One model per contestant please :) you can always include your teen's mom in her stories/scenarios, but we will only be judging one "student" for this competition.

Assignment 1:

Hi, let me start by saying how excited I am to have been given this very unique opportunity. Let me follow up by saying how bad I am at writing well…anything. My name is Kit Kerrigan, and I’m seventeen years old. I know I’m far from what most would consider a beauty, which is another reason I’m so excited to have been given this chance. I’m not originally from the United States, but I live here now with my parents, and My brother Jason who thinks he’s years more mature than me, even though he’s only ten months older. I have two dogs named Archie and Reggie, a cat named Betty, and a Rabbit named…yup Veronica. We live what my dad refers to as the American Cliché in a small white house at the end of a cul-de-sac in the suburbs of a Maryland town. It’s historic, quiet, and boring. It’s the kind of town that can start a person on a lifelong drinking habit simply for the lack of anything else to do.

I was born in southern Greece, in a town that I can’t pronounce. I could ask my dad, but then I would have to ask him how to spell it, and in all honestly I really don’t care enough to go to the trouble. We left when I was only two anyways, I don’t remember anything about living there. My dad does though. He talks about it like it’s the most amazing place there ever was, I won’t disagree, but if that were the case, why are we here? He works at a small factory in town, making car parts for some foreign car company. My mom teaches French at the local high school. I know that it’s odd that my Greek mother teaches French to American students, but that’s what she did back in the old country, so I guess it makes sense. Besides, she’s amazingly smart, she needs to be a teacher! It’s what she was born for. My brother just started going to College this fall. He says he’s going to become the first doctor in the family. I’m guessing he drops out before spring term, and starts working with my dad in the factory. I love him though…no really I do!

On weekends my friends and I like to do what most call Urban Exploring, though my brother prefers to accuse us of breaking and entering. True we don’t generally have permission to go into most of the houses we explore, but all of them have been abandoned for years anyways. I love going into those old dusty buildings. I love the smell of dirt and decay in the air. I love the creaking of the stairs, and the way the wood gives just a little as you walk across the distressed floors. I love the peeling wallpaper, and bits of newspaper stuffed into the cracks in the walls. Just walking through an old house and thinking about the lives that took place there is so cool. I’ve discovered so many things inside those crooked frames, including my passion for history! I hope one day to be able to walk through the old ruins of Pompeii, or to explore the cities of Petra and Machu Picchu. I also want to start a fund to try and preserve as many of those old falling down houses as I can. I know it sounds dumb, but I hate seeing those old building torn down. It’s like the last piece of someone’s life being torn away, gone forever. People I will never know, but somehow managed to connect to through time and distance. I wish more people could feel that, and understand it.

I really don’t know what else to say about myself. I get good grades; I really haven’t been in any trouble to speak of. I haven’t been in any school activities since I quit the band. (My dad is still mad, and I quit in the tenth grade!) I guess I’m just really ordinary.

I know that the purpose of this essay was to try and impress the panel, and to show them why I should be here, but there really isn’t too much impressive about me. I guess if I do have one advantage; it’s that I’m real. I don’t pretend to be someone I’m not, so if you do select me, you will get the exact person you’ve met in this letter. I know I’m capable of extraordinary things, and if given the chance, I know I can be amazing. But this essay isn’t about who I can be, or who I will become. It’s about who I am now, and I would rather be rejected for who I am, than to be accepted for portraying myself as impressive. I like who I am, and I hope you do to.

The only reason I'm here is because beech opened another story comp. They are my greatest weakness. :p speaking of which... are you going to do another cycle of Memories @BeechNutBaby ? I really liked that comp. I got really attached to all the couples. (Especially my own. I still play them)

I'm glad I was able to pull you back in! And I've thought about it. It's definitely a possibility. I really enjoyed it too - I loved your couple especially! If I do, it'd be when this one's over. I don't host more than one story-based comp at a time lol I've done that before and killed myself with the amount of time it took to judge!
