Sims 4 University: FEATURES that SHOULD be in the Pack

I think we had something similar at my university, and I'm in the US. I didn't live in one because they didn't have one for what I eventually got my degree in, but if I remember correctly they had separate dorms for people that were majoring in music, science, education, broadcasting, etc... I think most people only stayed in them for their first year before choosing to move off campus and into their own houses/apartments.

I attended a university that had dorms, but also had a large "commuter" population -- people who lived in the surrounding towns, some with full-time jobs who took classes in the evenings. The dorms weren't really themed as such; a couple of them were open over the winter break (the school had a long "intersession" during January, regular instruction resumed end of the month with the new semester) for international students who couldn't afford to travel home (though most ended up visiting with their roommates' or other friends' families) and for those involved in sports (like basketball players) that were played during that period.

In the US, we have a wide range of education options, and I'd love to see those reflected in the game. We also have 2-year "community colleges" where students live at home and take classes; they're also good for people who are making a career change (either voluntarily or after being laid off) to pick up new skills or hone existing ones. Some careers might not require a full 4-year degree (though that would still be an option). Online degrees could be another option. I'd like a University pack to be more about the education process and less about the constant stereotypical "party hearty" scene that's been portrayed in movies. Classes themselves could be rabbit holes, but more active work outside of class, more than just reading a book. Science students could be required to do lab work, or go out and look for collectibles like crystals or frogs. Writing students might be required to write research papers (talking to other students, library work, etc.) -- and just being lazy and relying on Simipedia would get you a bad grade. :D

I love your ideas. I hated Sims 3 university because it revolved around YA social life. Fraternities and sororities didn't appeal to me when I was a student, and are even less appealing now that I'm 'middle-aged'.

I would love to have a specific world/neigbourhood just for the Unis, Colleges, Schools, or even a day care..

Residential college is pretty cool! I lived in one... there lots of perks and rewards to stay in one, but you need to stay active in sports and doing well in the academics.. In some countries, college could means faculty or consist of departments/schools. I attended 2 different types of Unis in 2 different countries and the meaning and the concept of colleges, departments, faculties & schools are all different. Even in the same country, they have a different concept in naming.. so, it's totally depends on the Uni management. So, I'm practically open with any concept that they would like to implement.

Different type of learning facilities/option, such as the Open Uni, tuition centre, homeschool, e-learning...

Research centre , that will be pretty cool for any science major, natural, hard, or social for doing crazy experiments where they can recruit participants.. Would love if they add some animals too... my first degree was majoring in animal science.. it's fun to take care of sheep :D

Medical centre , it will be a great addition for the medical/dentistry students to practise. It will also be the place where the students can get a shot or medicines..

Art center , for the art major where they could practice dancing, music, acting, crafting, drawing, etc.. and the students can charge non-students for attending the performance..

Sport center , for the physical education students where they could practice different kinds of sports while getting fit..The mascots are most welcome! The other reason why we need few options for Unis in the Sims is, so that we can compete with each other in sports too...

Engineering center for the engineering students - robotic, mechanical, automotive, electrical, etc. where they could build stuffs from robots to rocket.. and start pranking other students with their creation...

Business & Political centre , for the business major where the students can open a small bazaar (for the Uni open day) or practising their charisma skills for the students election.

Student discounts where they could get discounts when they purchase anything from foods, drinks, things that sell in retails...

Student residential option dorm, off-campus, own house..

Scholarship because it's expensive to get education nowadays.. :D

Student unions where it deals with all students related matters. Students can also form clubs or societies, be the leader and start socialising... I hope that there will be hiking/climbing skill...Fraternities and sororities are actually fun, and it's not compulsory..

Part-time jobs for students, perhaps being the RA, working in the ICT or just been elected as the student representative

Internship before they completed the course... so, it will help in getting a better job level (besides than having the 'connection' trait or having a good grade only)

Private/boarding school for children and teens where they will have a specific uniform, depending on the schools that they attended..

Grading system where the students (from children to elders) have an option to drop out if they want to..

Parties only for students ... the option is only available if they attended the Uni/Schools such as graduation, prom

It will be great if a day care is not only in a separate lot, but the toddler could actually join the parent to work because nowadays, in a big corporation, they have a day care for the kids..

if we DO get more then 1 kind of post-secondary school could we PLEASE, PLEASE< PLEASE have some which aren't geared to sports but to academics?

I very much enjoyed all the University Expansions in the Past and there is a combination of things from the past I would like to see come back and a few new things I would like to have here is my list.

For the Sims

• Social Groups from Sims 3 to make their return along with their quirks and greetings. I would institute this a bit younger though because that stuff starts in high school
  
• Students should come from all age groups not just young adults. Elders should be able to continue their education if they so choose, plenty of schools offer adult education classes.
  
• If you have Get Together new college themed social club types should be unlocked for example Chess Club, Foreign Student Club etc.
  
• Part-Time Jobs which start after School
  
• Applying to different Universities and getting accepted.
  
• Applying for Scholarships (Skill level, Projects, Essays)

Of course, lots more jeering and sledging should be added to the mean socials. Some 'Jeer Together as team' would be good, sort of like the group dancing, but it's 'group harrassment.'

Physical pranks are ESSENTIAL, including stealing another dorm's mascot statue.

Also, include a RENTAL system we can build just a regular house and have room-mates we have no control over (NPC's). (I lived in College for the first three years of my degree, then rented an apartment for the final year - would be good to have different kind of residential options available to us, yes including study-from-home in any world. Where you live definitely gives you a different kind of Uni experience).

MUST HAVE SPORTS! What's a University without experiencing Sports.
I'd love to have some Sporting Events take place at Uni where the dorms/colleges compete against each other and at the end of the event, a dorm is announced as the winner:
Swimming Carnival - go to a Pool Venue and have races
Cross Country - all go jogging in the park

New Venue: Sports Field. Place Soccer Nets, Baseball Nets, Basketball Court, Track and Field (for sims to jog around, even a hurdle for them to, you know, hurdle over).

Cheerleading Skill: cross between the dancing and singing skill - instead of being tied to only an object (dancing), have it be a self-interaction like the singing skill: click on your sim to choose Cheer. As you progress through the skill you unlock different more complicated cheers as well as things like cheering with pom poms. Say at level 4, you unlock the ability to perfrorm cheers as a group and can use the new Cheering Platform to perfrom intricate routines. (This Cheering Platform should be included in the new Sports Field Venue).

Cheerleading should be added to the Club system, so we can choose members, uniforms, practise and perform routines to gain points, and if
we have Get Famous - get famous when performing in public. We could also set up rival teams and choose how we feel about them etc.

not everyone in Australia has your type of college @Movotti is from the same country and he doesn't like the sports idea or cheerleading his post-secondary school didn't have them

I completely agree. I live in Belgium, we do have student associations which are like clubs but they are not rivals. They are like your drinking buddies and they do some fun activities like sports, but not always competitive. Some schools have their own dorm, but not mascots. Most people commute or rent a place in the city. Cheerleading is such an American thing, we only know of it because of American movies. And sport events only happen in middle/high school and not in uni.

With a bachelor degree, you start at level 3 of the career with a high earning. With a master you start at level 6 with also a high earning. A master takes longer to get than a bachelor.

Yep, it will be nice to introduce more type of degrees.. But, I slightly disagree when you mentioned that the Master's Degree took longer than a Bachelor...

Career wise, it is nice if they start at level 6.. But, I think it will be too far stretch, because having a Master is an optional, so do a Bachelor's degree... just that, it will be better to have one so that the Sims can level up faster.. :)
