Sims 5 and "Black & White 3" double-dip development

The AI tasks between a Sim and a monster from B&W don't seem much different from each other and with EA owning the rights to B&W they could double-dip on AI development for Sims 5 by experimenting with the same AI and engine they intend to use for it in Black & White 3 first, get feedback, and make revisions while planning and designing it further for Sims 5 implementation.

Also I think the pairing is good, Sims proves you don't need a 'War Game' to be a successful game so a lot of the junk in B&W 2 can be left in the dust while still attracting a audience of gamers.
  • Sorry I don't have much to add, but I miss Black & White so much.... I still have the original CD-ROM sitting on my shelf w/ my Sims CDs. Haha :D

Reading that Wikipedia article brings back a flush of memories. The Sims was one of the games that inspired me to invest my academics and career interests into AI, and digital animation/simulation. Black & White was another one, because of the creatures' AI. (And the in-game physics.) Man.... good memories.

The planned level of artificial intelligence for the creature was thought to be risky: Molyneux commented that they wanted to "advance the technology to its extreme", and artificial intelligence specialist Richard Evans built the technology, which according to Molyneux appeared to "live and learn like, say, a clever puppy". Molyneux desired the creature to pass the Turing test, which had not yet been achieved.

What is your knowledge of cross-development? I'm not seeing that anywhere...

There isn't I never said there was. This topic is to suggest that cross-development would be a desirable action for EA as well as us.
