Sims Stories - How do you make yours?

Sometimes I'll start with a type of sim I want to create. Sometimes I'll start with an idea for a cool house and add the sims later. So for instance, I was watching a tv show about wine yesterday and I thought "It would be cool for my sim to have their own vineyard and winery!" So since I have the World Adventures EP that wasn't too hard to do! lol I first built the house and made sure I left plenty of room on the land to grow different kinds of grapes. The house has a kind of Italian flare to it. I am still in the process of making the basement into a huge, dark, stone wine cellar where I will also have my sim make the wine. Since I wanted to concentrate on making and selling wine, I knew that I only wanted one sim in the household. I haven't added my sim yet because I'm still making the house :) But once I add her I'll just keep playing until I get tired of the whole "wine thing" and I might have her get married and build a family, and maybe one of the kids could carry on the winery business :)

Very cool Jaxie! I see how your idea developed. I've had an idea rolling around in my head all day that might work, will have to plot it out a bit more and see what happens. Thanks so much for your input, its very much appreciated. :)

Anyone else care to elaborate on their process for making awesome Sims stories?

Ive always had problems with this......I would want to start in the sims bio that they give you but no idea what to write about them. I let them do their own thing without using the camera or the vid feature......if they make memories it will go into their scrap book and I guess I could always share those with others.

I try to go in with an idea for my main sim like what job I want her to have and that starts a lot of my starting game play. I try to make a plan around that then look for a partner to start a family cause I don't want my family line to end. Sometimes I will just randomize traits and that can lead you into a total different path for which you planned. So I think I use a little bit of surprise in my stories too.

I make a Sim with a general idea and then I let it all play out on its own. It's really the Sims' story, not mine, so I make the kind of Sim I want to make and then I set them free to wreak their own havoc! This worked really well with my Spelunker in TS3, who made for a far more hilarious story than I ever could have come up with on my own. That poor guy was set ablaze and electrocuted so many times ...

I will take my favorite movies or shows and create alternate like worlds or endings for them. I do prequels sometimes as well. Ok, that is how I start off and then I am amazed at where I end up.

For example:
I created a AHS Coven world and somewhere along the way, my Misty Day, ( Lily Rabe lil witch chick), transitioned into a pseudo Ruby, (Renee Zellweger) from Cold Mountain.

It was great. She was all like, "That' s Ma daddy" and then start dancing to Stevie Nicks (custom music).

I just play the game and make up the story as I go.
Eventually a solid plot takes form and I start thinking further out, but game play still drives the story.

I don't write scripts. I try to keep text as short as possible and let the picture do a lot of the exhibition.
It's a bit of a dance as I take shots imagining what they are saying, taking a heck of a lot of pictures, more than I need, and then sitting down and writing out what they are saying in the scenes as I look at the pictures.

I love creating dramas with my sims. I remembered one time, I made my sims broke up and made up like 6 times before they finally got married.

I usually start with my sims looks and then I can put together a story line. I base their home design on their personalities and then everything falls into place from there.
