Personally, if it is all about wants, I'd never really be against disability representation as a concept. Especially since it will be mostly elective with CAS. Even better if completely elective, since options are always a good thing. I do doubt how well they could manage it, though. Especially with the community that follows the game. It really does all depend on how they do it.
For example, I have seen a suggestion prior for randomized chances for terminal illness events. Beyond any sort of mental health thing, which I am sidelining as someone that lost her mother suddenly at a young age and could take an emotional hit depending on the time of year, it makes for a poor game mechanic, however realistic or dramatic. Such a mechanic would easily ruin a game with an unpredictable and uncontrollable game over screen, and I would consider it frustrating in general to have control taken away like that. Something like this, if it is a possibility, has to have a toggle even if other things do not.
This is just one example, but the devil is really in the details here. I cannot say what I know for sure I would really like without seeing what EA brings to the table first. Most of my experience has been with mental illness and it has not been pleasant. Actually, I know for a fact that even with disability representation I could never have a proper simself game it has been so dark at times. However, I also don't think my personal history should necessarily bind others on this kind of topic.
I don't know. I definitely think there is room for disability representation in the arts and entertainment. I also think it could possibly be in the Sims. I just don't think 4 will be able to do it this late in the game, both technically and in regards to the established reputation/community. This is a hard topic to handle well with any game, so my immediate expectation would be some level of failure and I do not think EA could tolerate that.
