Hi! I've uploaded a few lots, including four starters, to the gallery, but I only just discovered the forum and this thread. I like the challenge of keeping within the 20K budget, and I'm glad to see that I'm not alone. Frankly, I think starter homes are probably the most practical residences to build. Mansions are very nice and all, but sometimes I just want to move some "not in world" family into a lot so they don't disappear in a cull, and they seldom have more than 20K to spend. (Yes, I know there are Ways Around This, but ... I just don't wanna.)
The four starters I have in the gallery are "Writer's Retreat", "Efficient Opening", "Near Minimal" and "Levittown Cape Cod part 1", all under my name, of course. I haven't yet figured out how to link to them in a comment.
(A note on the Levittown Cape Cod: that's "part 1" because I followed it up with a series of upgrades, just under 10K each, representing the renovations and changes I envisioned being done to the original starter over the years as the hypothetical family in it grew and their needs changed. I'm pretty pleased with the way that series has shaped up so far, though in retrospect I should probably not have included a TV until part 3 and the mid-50s at least.)
