STORY PROGRESSION Ideas Thread

In the latest survey, the team included NPC story progression as a potential feature and it proved quite popular.
Here are some important ideas:

Story progression details
NPC Sims should be able to...
  • Build relationships (good or bad) with other NPCs on their own
  • Get promoted
  • Find a job if unemployed
  • Get kids
  • Change weight
  • Gain skills
  • Have affairs (based on traits, non-commital, evil, mean-spirited and romantic Sims more likely)
  • Break up (Non-commital, paranoid and jealous trait Sims more likely)
  • Have affairs and get pregnant by affair
  • Die due to unnatural causes like fire (Clumsy trait Sims more likely)
  • Gain celebrity status
  • Households may adopt pets

Option to disable NPC story progression in settings
In Sims 3 there was an option to disable the progression of non-active Sims. This should return for those that don‘t like it or need a break from it.

Would you agree? What are your ideas? I‘m gonna add them to the list! Comment below!
  • I would just love to see a over all relationship meter. I have had sims go to class with the same few people for years, Its a shame that the first time my sim has any sort of opinion about them its in college. Never mind the years ( or weeks) that my sim went to school with them, or played outside. I like the relationship meter as a thing that fades, but it would be nice to actually have sims remember people they used to go to school with or kids whose parents they used to play with.

I would also like the game to pick a handful of sims to "shove" into the lives of my sims. Right now its too easy to ignore sims that dont like you. They never come over to pester you, or to bully you or even just to make amends for their past wrongs. I think that would give some much needed depth.
  • I want them to add a whole detailed SP window in Configurations, but I also want it to be a Rotational window. Like, the two usually don't work together in SIms 1/2/3, you know?" But in Sims 4, they could add so many options/toggles that we could make them work algonside, or turn off rotational gameplay, or turn off SP.
I also would love a window in Manage Households, similar to the one from Get To Work + Dine Out were we can find people to work for us. Then I would be able to manage my npc jobs, add a male and a female sim for each and toggle if the can age or not, and toggle the game to warn me when they died. And, I also want my sims to be able to work in those NPC jobs. Maybe they can be half-time jobs.
  • Yes I’d like NPC story progression or the ability to mark households for it. I’m a generational rotational player but there are some households I just don’t actively play. I go in there to find them whatever match is laying around and fire up some woo hoos for a nuboo. But I’d love the game to deal with those B-string Sims on it’s own. It’d be fun to see so-and-so’s cousin around town with a new baby, sudden celebrity status, a revenge body, or a surprise partner!
