These are all valid arguments but the counterpoint to them is the people who are salty when something they paid for gets retrofitted to base game. Most of the items I selected come from meshes in that pack so if they reference textures you couldn't use them unless you had that pack or you were given the original paid item for free. Since I don't have every pack, I didn't choose a reference mesh in every case but I tried to stay with the theme.
We have talking toilets. I used that exactly once in my alien bar. I will never be using it again. The items I listed above I would use over and over and over. If I get them for free, great. If there is no plan to give them out for free, I came up with a plan that makes Maxis money, which I am prepared to spend. They haven't done a pack like this, why not try it.
