@Meeshelby I actually paint highlights and shadows into mine to give it more depth. First I use the lasso selection tool to select all the areas where I think a shadow would be. After I have all of the areas selected where I want shadows to go, I feather the selection. The amount of feathering depends on the size of the image. If it's a bigger image or bigger area, I feather it by more. Then press ctrl shift N to add a new layer. Choose the color you want the shadows to be. I like to actually pick up a shadow color from the background. Then I use the paintbucket tool to fill in the selected areas with the shadow color. After that play with the layer type(overlay, hard light, soft light, etc) and the opacity to make the shadow blend perfectly onto your sim. I do the same thing for highlights. That's how I really work my sim into the lighting of a background.
