Remember that if you save up money you can restore the burnt items! Just remove 5k from your savings every time you restore an item (plus the cost it takes to restore it). This can be a godsend when you're missing a final item like a counter. Of course, it's pretty hard to do initially when you're less focused on making money and more focused on surviving.
