The Arcane and the Mystery Man

Hey again everyone!

Now I am well aware that there have been multiple posts requesting for Magic, but I've been getting myself in the magical mood lately after creating an elderly man who is a master of Logic, Gardening, and Herbalism and sells his oils and concoctions in a small store where he also sells herbs and minerals.

Like I've previously stated in one of my posts, I prefer an equilibrium of Fantasy and Reality. Though I wouldn't mind at all if EA and Maxis were to crank up the Fantasy as long as they implement an option to enable/disable the Fantasy itself. That way, the game is enjoyable for both Realists and Magic Enthusiasts.

One of the most whimsical and nostalgic games that left a mark in my childhood was The Sims Makin' Magic.
The Italian/French/Gypsy/Folk Music, the Vintage Carnival Theme, The Haunted Forest, The Apothecary Gypsy Wagons, The aged and faded looks that manage to bring life to a home, and many things you would often see in a movie based off Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events with a small touch of The Illusionist.
I miss that, but since plenty of simmers had witches and whimsy on their minds during the last month, maybe we can reintroduce a bit of that old magic back!

Just to inform everyone, I'm on the side of having Magic be a skill. Not an occult.
As great as the witches were in 2 and 3, I wasn't a fan of having my everyday sims convert themselves to an occult just to perform something that is best suited as a skill if you were to think of it logically.
What I mean is... What are Witches? They are basically Human Beings with Supernatural/Arcane Knowledge and/or Abilities. Most often, witches have to perform rituals, brew elixirs, read tomes, and rely on specific items/artifacts to conjure their magic.
Same goes for Modern New Age Beliefs. Want to cast this spell or influence Nature/The God(s)/The Force to act on your best interests? Get these Herbs, Light these Candles, then say these words while dancing during a specific time in a specific location!

Of course, this is just one of the definitions of a witch. It highly depends on the location, culture, and history. Since some cultures from way back define witches as entirely different entities or a creature possessing supernatural (mainly malevolent) powers, but were once human at some point.

I personally don't believe in that stuff, but if you were to talk with any New Age Believer, they would probably tell you that magic or "energy" is within everyone.

Not saying I want The Sims 4's magic to mimic New Age Magic practices. I'm just using this as an example of Witches simply being nothing more than Human Beings with Arcane Knowledge and received/earned Arcane Powers. Not inherited.

Plus, Alchemy would be a great reintroduction to the series. Plus, we could have Candle Making, Nectar Making, and Knitting.

Plus, out of all the characters from Makin' Magic that left me with so many questions, the Mystery Man takes the cake. Obviously.

Who is the Mystery Man? What are his origins? Out of all the households, why you to be left with the mysterious package? Well... Other than because game. What role does he really play within the Magical Community? Why is Magic forbidden to be seen by normal sims' eyes during the first iteration, but in the second, you are free to flaunt it as you please? Where is the Mystery Man now? Plus, what ever happened to Magic Town?

Just a crazy estimation, but Magic Town just might be one of those weird supernatural phantom like cities where they appear and are corporeal for a specific period of time. Which means once that time is up, the entire town and the inhabitants fade away. Like a ghost or fog.
Again. Just some crazy guess, but it might explain why Magic Town was located in a secluded forest like place where it was forever autumn.

I think a lot of lore and work can be placed into this Magic themed expansion/game pack. If they happen to make one.

My primary concern is will they flesh out the concept, add depth and complexity, and make it to where the pack satisfies the best interests of all simmers. Realists included.

What are your thoughts? Should we bring back a bit of Makin' Magic to The Sims 4? Should Witchery/Magic be an Occult or Skill? What skills would you like implemented into the game? What are your theories on The Mystery Man and Magic Town?

As always,

Thank you for reading this post.
