I know in TS3 I use NRAAS Careers and Master Controller mods and that helps me just click on someone and change their career. Without the mod, you can also type "testingcheatsenabledtrue" and then shift click on the mailbox to change any active Sim's career. I would imagine TS4 has an option for something like that... maybe.
