The Art Commune Reading Circle

I've been thinking about Data from Star Trek: Next Generation all afternoon in relationship to this conversation. One of the things that I love about non-human/human friendships is that they often include an asexual element: Data (though fully functioning and designed to please) is asexual. He is capable of love and tenderness and deep caring. And he discovers that he longs for some people's company and friendship, and all the while, he's not sexually drawn towards them. I really like this dynamic, and it seems to me to be one of the interesting archetypes that these types of friendships can follow.

Since I tend to be somewhere on the asexual spectrum myself, I feel like I learn so much from these relationships.
