Hi fellow Art Commune friends,
I'm back after an unintended absence but much has happened. First, last Friday, I walked at commencement for my graduate school program and I officially have my masters. Second, Saturday a friend of mine from high school flew into town for the day and came to my grad party. I celebrated with friends and family. It was a nice event. My mother-in-law decorated and the rest of the in-laws and my husband cleaned so that I could enjoy my super special day. :) Third, Sunday, I was hit hard with my head cold that I've been fighting since last Tuesday and so I've spent most of the last two days in bed resting, eating chicken soup, drinking juice, and binge-watching Netflix when I was awake. Now that I'm feeling much better, and I have two weeks off, I should have more time to play the Sims and be active in the forums.
Right now I'm enjoying this new phase of my life without many responsibilities... for the moment. Of course, I'll be job hunting in the new year as my current (beloved) job is only part-time and I need something full time. In the meantime, I'm not feeling too pressured. I will be an aunt for the first time soon (shortly after Christmas I suspect). This is an amazing time in my life right now. It feels pretty surreal.
This evening, I've been playing some Sims for fun. Right now I'm in Starlight Shores with Kass and her dad (in the springtime, post TAT chapters, but before KFLL). I'm getting ready to do some set-up and finally write more KFLL chapters. I have it outlined through the end of 2.0, but I wanted to ease back into Sims after being sick and absent for a bit. Plus I really like the idea of just playing to play. Kass might just run into Davis... and things might heat up with Howard and Marisol... and who knows what else might happen? :)
What's everyone up to for the holidays?
That all sounds awesome. Congratulations on getting your master's! I hope the party was lots of happy fun. :)
I feel you on the chicken soup and juice and Netflix binging from the couch. I spent much of last week in the hospital with gallbladder issues, and that's mostly what I've been doing since I got home. My favorite of all the things I watched on Netflix the past week was Magica Madoka. It was beautiful.
I am doing well and I haven't had any problems adjusting to life without a gallbadder so far. No more pizza for me though. Sigh.
My company has four permanent seat licenses at the Carolina Panthers stadium, and I've had enough seniority for a while now to get to pick one game a year to go to. Our game was yesterday. I was determined to go, since being sick had already taken my birthday from me. The Panthers won with a touchdown in the last minute of the game, so it was too exciting for my incisions. ;) Had to take pain medicine when I got home, but it was worth it.
Went up to my mother's place after that and spent the night and ate Christmas dinner with her today. She was really anxious about me being in the hospital but decided to not come down, so it was good for me to go up there and see her and let her see that I'm okay and recovering well. We came home this evening, and I drove part of the way, which went okay. That's good, since I'm going back to work Wednesday and my job involves a fair bit of driving.
Tomorrow is for chilling and hanging out. And possibly playing some Sims, since today's the first day I've felt up to sitting in my computer chair. :)
