A short (4 sim weeks) challenge written by Aislynne. The objective is to save your town’s Christmas Fair by completing a series of thematically related tasks.
You can find the rules and original story here: http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=567508
For this playthrough I’m changing things up by using a child sim (and an adult helper).
In a pre-furnished apartment high above Detroit, Cocochimetl tried to regain her mental balance, when the Landgraab knock at the door. https://64.media.tumblr.com/40040a5dc55214fbea07fbbc3c951c7a/6bdd04303bf4a767-df/s1280x1920/8f80ec48ba88a5b02263eb2a2eb52cb432099080.png

Geoffrey: “Teacher...?”
Cocochimetl: “You travel light, Landgraab. Especially you opted not to burden yourself or anybody with too much information. I had to learn about the meaning of Winterfest and the fact that a freakish space station bends the moonbeams from your enemies recently.”
Geoffrey: “We coached t you about taxes and licenses, so that you could set up your restaurant.”
Cocochimetl: “That wasn’t nearly enough payment for the techniques I taught you. The next few lessons will come with a steep price to compensate me for the loss.”
Nancy: “Business aside, since you apparently started to take an interest in the modern world, I want to ask, how would YOU proceed regarding Captain Reed of the DPD?”
Coco: “Forget about trying to make him join you, don’t battle him, just ignore everything with “Reed” on the tin!”
Malcolm: “Sounds good to me, but what’s your reasoning?”
Coco: “He’s a vampire, isn’t he? That means in your new world order he’d be due a domain of his own anyway. Well, he seems to want Detroit, so leave it to him, and just act as if the city doesn’t exist.”
Geoffrey: “That might actually be the best way to deal with the city even when one is not a vampire planning world domination.”
“I’m probably getting flak for being an ancient Omiscan pretending to be a Selvadoradan and decorating my restaurant for Winterfest, that adopted the bulk of its traditions from Christmas, what in turn had adopted a fair share of their traditions from both roman and european religions…
But, dangit, this feels so right!
As a vampire sleeping through the centuries, waking up for the brief periods in history when magic was working, I stopped feeling part of any culture pretty quickly. But what Mr. Reed and his little girl mentioned - forgiveness and second chances - and what all the holidays held ‘round this time of year celebrate - hope and love, when the season is at its darkest - that, I think, I can get behind.
In the days to follow the miasma of sadness, dazedness and anger got lifted from Newcrest, with nobody being the wiser why or what had caused it in the first place. Maybe it had been a natural phenomenon of this new era of magic.
Daniel learned how to make salmon bread spread. It seemed such a small achievement, but the couple had had some of that the day they had told each other “I love you” for the first time.
Gavin’s plushies both came out “legendary”, even though the turtle is the failed version.
Peggy will fade from public awareness again, but not before having given World Famous actress Amber Stein an autograph! Amber returned the gesture.
Week 4 results
I counted each sim only for one category, even if they qualified for several. In household sims didn’t count. Friendships that were forged only to score for the challenge will get deleted or adjusted down after the challenge.
neighbor kid Damian, gramps Jim, band mentor Emma, Lyn’s mother, Alexander the cop, the food critic, Gunthra’s mother (Jordan Mayer), Candy Behr, a farmer, a ski resort manager (townie)
Good friends: Aunt Tina, “fated mate” Kendra, cousin Evelyn, an elderly judge from Newcrest
Friends: the judge’s husband, granny Dorothy, step-brother Jin, half-brother Joseph, Damian’s siblings Marlon and Leonie, their mother, their father, Gunthra Munch, the paranormal investigator, his daughters Eve, Alayna and Alice, his wife and finally Cocochimetl (who is neither Evil nor Gloomy or Mean, but still the antagonist)
Evil, Mean or Gloomy or Criminal sims befriended: 9/18
Sigstein the spellcaster, Elsa Bjergsen, the gloomy ski resort teen
This last category was the hardest, because my game is not allowed to generate evil sims on its own and Peggy could not ask about careers (she didn’t meet any of my criminal sims anyway). That left only Mean and Gloomy sims.
@EnkiSchmidt - Congratulations on completing the challenge! Will you be showing pics from the Winter Gala? That would be cool.
I have the next chapter written and am working on remodelling a house I downloaded from the gallery. Might be after Christmas before I can continue this again. Have a wonderful holiday!
EDIT: Well, I just went to play my file, and it's gone. I do believe I accidentally deleted that Elfie save file, so unfortunately, that save file is no more. I was playing too many versions named Elfie Teen, and deleted the wrong one. I was going to continue renovating the house, but nowhere to be found. So, yep, it's gone. Oh well, I enjoyed the challenge. Maybe I'll try it next year again with another sim. :)
(I have no pictures of the Snowflake Gala planned, as it would be a huge event with hundreds of children. I don't think I could do this justice, but we'll see. Maybe I'll still get inspired over the holidays.)
