The Many Lives of Mirana

So now I am a teenager.

My bedroom has been altered accordingly, although I've kept my childhood art on the walls for the time-being.

Everyone tells me this time will be full of ups and downs.

What no one mentioned was that other people would be having ups and downs, too, like Geoffrey being abducted by aliens. Twice.

I've been attending the same high school as Malcolm. It doesn't seem fair. He's coasting with his A, never doing homework while I do all mine, plus extra credit and am stuck on the letter B. But everything has seemed unfair ever since Enigma died and Grim wouldn't let me challenge him at chess. I've even tried grief counseling, and what a waste that was.

Anyway, I did have an "up." I didn't expect to go to prom. It was enough that Malcolm would go, as he deserved to, after going to the trouble to make a promposal sign and go down on his knee to Britney Bjersen.

But then Kaiden Sigworth, who has grown up to be rather good-looking, asked me to go with him as friends. So I put on my best dress and went.

I nominated him for Prom King and Malcolm for Prom Jester. They both won, so either I'm psychic or I was the only person who voted.

Everything was hunky-dory, but then we realized that Nancy and Geoffrey were getting older. Nancy was the first to go.

And then Geoffrey, before he could even start to mourn Nancy. 

I arranged a funeral for them -- well, I could only do it for Geoffrey, but it was for Nancy, too.

Our high school principal came, along with Kaiden and Britney, and even Grim.

So that was all a real down, but just now, I've had a big up. I finally got my A and found out I that I'm eligible for early graduation. Leave high school and go to college? You betcha.
