I thought they eat it the second time too if they're hungry enough. Hmm, maybe I'm remembering it wrong or I used a mod for that.
I knew there was a mod so that it only need them to eat once to die. It's been awhile since I played with a cow plant tho so I might be wrong. Or my file was corrupted (always a possibility).
