Transgender sims & townies

One thing I LOVE about TS4 is the custom gender options. I’ve been working on a save file where I’ve “transitioned” most of the main sims 4 families (the Goths, Landgraabs, Calientes, Pancakes, etc) by changing their gender settings and outfit choices. I also love creating my own trans sims.

One thing I wish EA would include in the game is townies who are transgender (i.e., they have a different physical frame and pregnancy/using the toilet settings than their gender).

The closest sim to this in the game is Paka’a Uha in Island Living, who has a feminine frame. It would be nice if once in a while, some of the townies that get generated are transgender or gender non-conforming, since these options exist!

I’m also curious if there are any current mods out there that allow you to have sims transition without having to change settings in CAS. I’d love to see this someday be a part of gameplay (coming out, changing style, changing physical frame over time, etc.)

Has anyone else found creative ways to include trans sims in your games? Is there any interest in having more trans townies?

P.S., I'm trans, and don't intend to mock trans people in the game. I just appreciate seeing people that look like me in the game! And why not lots of them?

  • I do wish there were a townie generator setting. Personally I dont have interest in encouraging the sims team to add specific townies, because whether they are premades or townies usually I go to edit them anyways to tone down crazy clothing (usually removing like 6 accessories).

If we had a townie generator setting menu, itd be cool to be able to choose what townies appear in your game. This can help with storytelling or personalizing your game how you want. You could choose things like locks, unlocks, limits, enabling or disabling:
    ▪︎ages of townies
    ▪︎single or married townies
    ▪︎married townies with kids
▪︎no adult/ya/elder familes (toddler to teens only)
    ▪︎sex/custom gender of townies
▪︎clothing style of townies (rock, prep, casual, plus your own custom tags)
    ▪︎townie traits
    ▪︎townie skin tones
▪︎townie names (and if there was a filter tag for origin of names, also creating your own)

Etc etc to customize your sandbox playing. I remember trying to play an asian world from the past and got a lot of custom builds and cc from the gallery. But even after customizing all the townies, the game generated a lot of townies that didnt fit the story I was trying to build and I had to keep editing a lot till it became annoying lol. But with lots of filtering (since sims is heading more sandbox style than simulation) and custom tags I think the game could allow a lot more expression. Especially if they ever enable being able to edit worlds.

I believe you can control some townie stats with MCCC, but it's still pretty limited (I think you can choose the % of sims in certain age groups and of certain genders). I would really like to have better control of townies that get generated in each world instead of them being totally randomized. Maybe there are other mods that allow for this, but it would be even better if EA had some (even minimal) built-in controls.
  • I wouldn't mind some new premade households with trans sims think it be cute

but I don't really feel right if they were to change up existing households as they've been around so long
i just kind of feel like it should be left to players what happens to premades after they're added to game

Morgyn Ember. Paka'a Uha. Lia Hauata.

Those are three that came out in the same year. So, they do exist, if not commonly.

Note that Lia Hauata, in particular, is there demonstrating a traditional Polynesian role outside the gender binary - it's not just a quirk to make the character different, it's included as a nod to the culture that Island Living is portraying.

So cool! I didn't realize that about Lia Hauata, but I don't play with Island Living much. Thanks for pointing these out!

I like your ideas. I also agree the game can't generate the type of townies I want for themed towns I play in my head.

I was also going to mention Morgyn. My Sim is currently married to them (I see them as non-binary). I've always assumed that Darling Walsh, in San Myshuno is trans.

My Sim had a coworker with a male frame and beard who wore dresses, that I'm pretty sure was a randomly generated townie, but it was awhile ago and I don't remember their name.
  • It actually never occurred to me their weren't any. I guess I just assumed there were since the option is there. I thought there was a lesbian couple in either Sims 3 or 4, but I could have just made that a thing in my head of some female townies that lived together, lol. I always remake any that I care about anyway. But it would make sense if they had some kind of mathematical equation for adding a certain amount of gay and transgender sims into the population.

I agree. I rarely play with maxis characters and townies. They do dress crazy. lol I wish more service jobs were active careers, for example recently I had an astronaut sim work as a bartender but I have never seen my babysitter career sims work as the nanny. I think the only reason the game generated that astronaut Sims to be bartender is because I had played him recently. It should be sims in that career only. I have MCCC too.

btw, My vampire townies have a lot of the npc service jobs in my worlds. They usually work at restaurants. I need a way to fix that.
