I've finished week one of the prison challenge.
https://youtu.be/422v8ovA4fwMy sim, Cecelia is creative, cheerful and neat - a terrible combination to live with a bunch of mean slobs but that was kind of the point. Initially, the challenge was much too hard with all the time limits I imposed so I had to change the rules.
The prisoners are still locked in their cell from 9:00 pm - 7:00 am but I lifted all time restraints on the kitchen and outdoor time. It was way too complicated trying to get everyone out of the kitchen to re-lock the doors three times a day and all but impossible to make them keep food in the kitchen. It was also nearly impossible trying to figure out which prisoners to keep from going outside for their 'yard time' or which had already had it and if they had their full hour.
Now instead what I'm doing is locking the yard doors around 6:00 or 7:00 pm when it starts getting dark.
Initially I thought this challenge was going to be too easy. I decided to have Cecelia start trying to make friends, but as it turns out she's way too busy keeping herself bathed and fed and keeping the toilet, sink, shower etc. in working order to socialize as much as I thought she would. It's been a sim week and she's not even friends with anyone yet. Of course it doesn't help that all the sims are in a foul mood.
The most difficult time is overnight when all 8 sims are locked in the cell. Inevitably, someone always has to pee or desperately needs to eat, but surprisingly, the lack of beds has not posed a challenge. In fact quite frequently only half the beds are in use while the rest of the girls chat, play on their phones, wet themselves and play musical chairs swapping seated positions one the bed they are all using to chat. I think I might have to start locking the cell during the day to ensure that they are tired from time for lights out.
Also I thought food would be more of an issue, but the girls all seem relatively well fed. I haven't even had to break into Cecelia's stock of carrots from her prison garden. I'm debating what to do to make food more of a challenge. Perhaps the prisoners can only eat what they grow or cook? No quick meals? I'm not sure how to enforce that however. I may have to assign Cecelia to kitchen duty and lock everyone else out. Now she has to provide food for all 8 prisoners! But... actually making a group meal regularly to set out probably wouldn't be that hard either. Any feedback on how to make food more of an issue would be welcomed!
I was also hoping for more fights and yelling and general mayhem but that hasn't really been an issue, the girls all seem pretty happy to chat and get along apart from the odd sim passing out or peeing. Maybe I should do the mean vibe lot trait instead of private dwelling?
