We need more lots!!

So.. I was playing my parenthood save file and abruptly came to the realization the I had no more empty lots in any of my worlds. I didnt want to let go and bulldose any of my existing lots, but i literally have no other choice. My Newcrest world is chock-full of homes, resturants, retail, bowling, nightclubs... you name it! However, since ive been playing with this save file for a while, my storytelling would be much better if I were able to implement some more lots into my worlds.

I was hoping that sometime in the near-future we would be able to recieve a new “Newcrest” with tons of lots and beautiful scenery. This would help lots, and i think others would appreciate aswell.

Yes we need another free world with 20 blank lots. I agree.

Keeping in mind that the game only ever loads one lot at a time, I wonder why 1) the "overworld" maps aren't bigger and 2) why there are so few lots?

From a performance standpoint, I could understand keeping the worlds smaller if this were an open-world game, but it's not and we never load the world as a whole--so why should it matter how big it is or how many lots are on it?

    It's a head-scratcher IMO.

No it isn't. They want your money.

If that was the case, they would sell us world packs like The Sims 3.

It makes 0 sense to limit the amount of lots, but then not offer us an alternative to buy some outside of Expansions. They’re getting the same money regardless.

It’s more of an issue that TS4 worlds are built from the ground up.

It’s not a matter of editing some flat terrain, throwing in some trees and building some lots.

The Sims 4 worlds are sculpted from scratch, and that probably requires a whole team rather than a few employeees using Create A World.

Maybe, but I'm not convinced that it's all about enticing us to buy packs. There are plenty of reasons to buy the packs and plenty of reasons not to, but I can't imagine many simmers are making the decision based on the extra lots provided.

And they did give us Newcrest for free.

I’d say it’s more of an issue of resources. SimGuruDaniel said they wouldn’t have the resources to sell World Packs on top of GP and EPs.

SimGuruDaniel also said he worked on Newcrest in early 2015, which means it took several months just to copy and paste Willow Creek and make some background changes so it looked different.

World Packs aren't needed if we can get free worlds in Patches. Case and Point Newcrest.

They have said before that the worlds are expandable, when we were griping about lots and world size when 4 first came out. Why do that though when you can charge people for a buggy mess so they can get more lots?

They tried expandable worlds and it didn't work. That's why we got Magnolia Promanade.
  • I'm not running out of lots for sims to move in, if need be, but I always love seeing new worlds and new themes for the worlds. I tend to gallery-hunt for a certain theme and make sure that each neighborhood has its own distinct personality and theme. I'm also ridiculously fond of making sure they look good in the map view, too. Then I encounter super silly problems like 'these sims need homes, but none of the houses I have in my game fits them', but that's my fault, not the game's. o:)

I also set my favourite townies living in houses, sometimes whole families that I have no intention to play, so running out of lots is never about someone doing a rotational play between all those lots, it's about building consistent worlds and liking the way they're set up. My save is still the one I started when the game was first released. (I play aging off, obviously.) It's grown with the years, bit by bit, and I love it.

Expansion packs always bring a guaranteed world, but we just got one, so that's a long wait. Some game packs bring a smaller world, too, and although I think the next one will be a vacation world, I'm absolutely excited about that. Finally! Regardless, unless they bring out another Newcrest, I think the next livable world will be possibly maybe in another game pack later this year. Maybe.

Guess we all will learn to be better with condensing functions and revamping neighborhoods for a while longer!
  • Absolutely. And yes on the apartment thing too--I honestly don't feel like there's any apartments at all. Some of the buildings only have two apartments in them (also, all the livable apartments are on the top floor apparently, lol, but that's a whole other thing). In my experience, I can go about 3-4 generations in before space starts becoming a problem. And fuck me if I want to have, say, TWO restaurants, or add more parks or lounges. Everything starts to feel squished, it's such a drag.
  • I would like more lots too. I really wish there was at least one "free build" neighborhood where we could set our own lot sizes. I like building and playing small lots and have no use for the larger or giant lots. Sprawling layouts, I find, make it too difficult to keep track of all of my Sims.
