Wedding Improvements

I wish wedding events allowed us to add the relatives and close friends of both sims getting married regardless of which sim is selected at the time of planning the event. It's frustrating when only one of the engaged sim's relatives shows up because that sim isn't yet acquainted with their partner's family. I think parents, siblings and children should be first on the list to be invited.

Anyone else got some fun wedding ideas?

EDIT - apologies, I thought I had posted this in the Ideas forum.

Yes. I want them to bring back the heart shaped wedding arches from TS3,the champagne bottle from the Sims 2 and wedding veils.

If you’re planning to hold a wedding at Myshuno Meadows, add a stereo. It’s a great place, but when you move the reception inside, there is no music for dancing.
  • That would be nice. I also wish they would get rid of (or at least raise) the amount of sims you can invite to a wedding. I play six households, all related to each other, and there's definitely more than the allowed number of sims you can invite between them, which I think is 15. It makes planning events a little difficult.

I kind of gave up on weddings for my sims when they prefer to give their, I do's, in the bathroom, or in their underwear. lol I can't figure out what's so special about that location or those clothes.

The last two sims that I got married off, I had worked so hard giving them just the perfect backdrop to make some beautiful pictures, but Oh No, they just had to get married in a tiny cramped bathroom, in their underwear. I know I could have used an arch, but I didn't want it in the picture.

That's actually where the last wedding, sims in my game had, I've never been big on fancy weddings, in any of The Sims iterations. My sims are just not that romantic.

  • Love the photographer idea, the dancing and really wish they could auto propose too, wish there could be some special decor just for the day, and a bouquet toss

I just had a thought, can you hire a photographer if you have the photo station (whatever it’s called lol). If not they really need to add that into the game or someone needs to mod it.

Omg imagine a fun photobooth were a group of guests randomly go in to take some funny themed pics you can set up for your wedding. You know with these accessories:

And then they can purchase them or you can hang them up on a wall/board at your wedding or take them home as a memory.

My brother's wedding had something similar. It was fun.
  • I just threw a wedding for a young couple in my game. Talk about frustrating. I loaded a venue (actually two different wedding places) from the gallery. Did the whole place and build option so that I could take a first-hand look. Everything seemed right in the second venue (the first had some issues, that even after I added onto the building weren't totally fixed). Even so, I had to pause my game and go into build mode because the bride (my controllable Sim) complained something was blocking her path to the wedding arch. This AFTER I moved the partition wall between the actual space for the ceremony and the much larger area devoted to the reception/party afterwards. Still it was a no-go. At last, I went back into build mode and REMOVED the rather glorious chandelier. Once I did that the wedding could proceed. However, I don't think the clock on the Event stops when the game goes into build mode. :'(

The couple managed to get married and many of the Event things were satisfied, yet they only ended up with a Silver award. Ho-hum. I'm used to the Gold standard, myself.

NOTE to those who build Wedding Venues: Please, please, PLEASE test them before placing them on the Gallery.

    Thank you.

I second the slow dance idea. I'm playing a long legacy family right now and weddings are always kinda a huge event in my game because they only come around once per generation. I try to change things up every time to add variation but the lack of wedding options makes that hard. I used the "dance with..." option to improvise a first dance scenario in my last wedding, so the pictures ended up like this ->

I actually really liked it, I thought it was funny. I think it would be cool to add the option of a first dance though, and add it to the requirements for a successful wedding event. I also think it would be fitting to add dancing in general to the list of requirements, because I don't think I've been to a real wedding reception that didn't end with everyone on the dance floor.

Till we get the slowdance there is the slowdance mod from Sacrificial.
