What about other reworks?

As soon as I saw the gardening rework I knew it has opened a space for new reworks to happen in game for skills, events, gameplay features and etc. I want to know what you guys would like to see reworked by the team?

These are the things I would like to see reworked.

1 - Herbalism (and a general OR rework) I like this skill, but it's very boring. Maybe add a new way to make more lucrative or fun.

2 - Gaming - Even though I like this skill, it's really odd that someone who plays a lot of "sims-tetris" would get good enough to play a totally different kind of game. Gaming should work along other skills and boost them as well because different games improves different skills in real life.

3 - Likes and Dislikes - we can do that ingame using the dialogues options as "declare preferred weather"* "Declare Action as preferred genre"*. That's something we could do in CaS for Weather (Seasons), Movies (MH), Costume (Seasons and Spooky Stuff), Color (base game), Music (base game) and etc. And have some small bonuses for things the sims likes and dislikes.

4 - Retail - Retail, for me, seems to be a bit broken. The more expensive the item is, the bigger will be your profit. That's real, but why would every sim be interested in buying the same old violin for the same price? Maybe we could have things like "Type of business" or "Supply and Demand"** If you go to a bakery, you don't take the same time to buy breads and cakes as someone who goes to a music store to buy a 15k violin.

5 - CaS and BnB catalogue - Ee have tons of content, EPs, GPs, SPs and even mods. We need a better way to organize them in the catalogue.

6 - CaS and BnB Filters - They are amazing, but "demand a lot of clicks" to work. When I was in college I was studying design for digital interfaces. And a filter should be less "hide" and more simple to use rather than "dropdown-menus-with-a-huge-list-in-a-tiny-space-place-in-a-corner". It sounds like an afterthought.

I know for some of them there are mods (like the More Columns in CaS) but would be nice to have an official take on those things.

*I don't play the game in English, so I don't know how they are written in English.
**I don't know if this is how you say this expression in English

  • I'd like retail to be a little more similar to restaurants, where you don't have to be there every day to open the store, but if you see that your profits are going down you can visit to see what's wrong and fix it. Maybe the public restrooms are broken and dirty because no one cleaned them; you'd have to get them fixed then train your staff to take care of that. Or things aren't being restocked promptly, or employees are spending too much time chatting instead of selling. I'd also like both retail and restaurant ownership to be actual jobs, so Sims don't get pulled into NPC roles when you rotate away from the household.

Supply and Demand works -- sort of like if people aren't at your store you might need to diversify, like if no one's buying art then you might want to consider adding a small florist stand to see if that attracts customers.

I think Seasons itself gives a new challenge to Herbalism. Going through Carl's guides seems like all of the plants are blooming in summer, so planning your year around going to Granite Falls early in that season so you can harvest all the plants (spending most of the year building the skill through reading and such would be a good plan so you can concentrate on finding/identifying plants. There's a new lot trait, Peace and Quiet, which supposedly makes reading more effective especially reading skill books; I might test that out with my current family since my Sim has a couple of plants in her inventory she hasn't been able to identify yet.
  • I would love to see other reworks particularly the whim system but I highly doubt anything that's was DLC/Paid Content and not from the Base Game/Free Update to be reworked. So stuff from Outdoor Retreat or Get to Work is probably not going to happen unless it's something that completely breaks the game and needs an emergency fix.

My main desire for a rework is the whim system and stronger traits. I'd also like them to make sure skills have more of a sense of progression by having strong benefits to having high skill levels. High mischief in particular doesn't seem to be much of a benefit. Hopefully they expand on that as a skill too.

Yep. Sometimes I think they forget some DLC's existed.
  • Those are good suggestions for reworks in the first post. Personally I would like to see the following changes

    - update public playgrounds to include something that can be used by toddlers. I'm not talking about lots with a park but the surroundings next to the lots. This is the only place where you really notice toddlers were added in way to late in the game.

    - update to sixam. This world needs something to do. Perhaps a bar (or make the bar from the scientist career permanent), or just food stall that appears with some drinks/items you can buy.

    - add more character to the sims. I second stronger traits mentioned a few posts above mine. But I also miss the turn ons and turn offs from sims 2 and the favourite colours, foods and music from sims 3. I suppose zodiac signs also belong in this list.

    - let the season holiday tradition to wear costumes include things from other packs. Especially the spooky stuff costumes, but I'm also thinking of the the knight outfit from get together, super hero outfit from city living, bear outfit's (the 'normal' ones from outdoor retreat or the coloured versions of city living or parenthood)

    - and a really small suggestion to CAS. I have always trouble finding the right hair updo. Now you have to choose between short, medium and long. I think hair updo's deserve their own category.
  • I would love to be able to choose favourites in cas that would be more organised imo i would love if you could view your sims favourites in the simoly panel in game
