A quick update:
Z and I are still spending our Simming time with our “throwaway” saves, learning how to use MCCC and how to include gameplay elements from some of our expansion packs into our story.
We encountered chaos when we experimented with the breakup, marriage, and pregnancy settings. At first, we turned our Simiverse into the World Headquarters of Relationship Drama. Couples were forming and dissolving every Saturday; we couldn’t keep up with who was with whom. One boulevardier in our Simworld was about to become a father for the second time, with two different women. And so many nooboos were created that Z declared, “I think the unplayed Sims do nothing but WooHoo.”
Speaking of couples (and nooboos): we also spent time adjusting how difficult it is for our Sims to win the game of romance. When you play with aging off and 28-day seasons, like we are, we neither want nor need our Sims to fill their pink bars halfway simply by flirting a bit over a cup of coffee. At first, we went way too far in the other direction. We made romance so elusive that a Charismatic Sim in a Flirty mood, spamming romantic interactions all afternoon at another Flirty Sim, didn’t create a pink bar at all. I'm not sure how much the mood was broken by the appearance of Agnes Crumplebottom, who made her way from Henford-on-Bagley to the Newcrest swimming pool just to whack our protagonist with her purse. Whatever the reason, it took several adjustments to get things the way we wanted them.
The other projects we’ve enjoyed involve getting comfortable with sending Sims to University and dabbling in Spellcasting. We didn’t want to risk messing up our story save while we bumbled our way through those activities.
I'll be back with an introduction to a new character in the days to come. In the meantime, happy February, and happy Simming.
