Normally I don't have a dinner or presents on checking day, which is a chance for other families to maybe meet santa as if he is his own elf on the shelf and have a little extra family time. Though I let them have it as I age up adopted kids differently so it would be time for Stella to go to college, didn't want her left out. As much as she hated being pulled from her bed it was nice to celebrate with the family.

Aside from finding more than one can open a gift at a time if your sim is distracted you can just have them open a present to join back in pretty much, I let them sing and do whatever without watching too closely.

She ended up going over to jeb's while I was aging him up too, and she was surprised but happy to see he would go to school with her and without his beloved bag.
