Functioning as designed?! Having a non-glutton sims continue to eat until they ruin their physique/fitness and endlessly waste/cook food/money in direct opposition of the description and point of game play? FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED? What. A. Joke. And it's been reported for some time that it doesn't just occur on vacation. I knew it was bad, but at this point no one is even trying to hide their disdain for the people who pay them.
I wouldn't mind this so much if the "take care of needs" action actually made sims target their lower needs - I could just have a "take care of needs" period where hungry sims ate and others didn't - but the "take care of needs" seems to just be 80% sleeping and 20% bathing, even if their energy and hygiene are green and their hunger is red.

Oh, I thought this only happened in the game… My Sims are constantly eating during the getaway! I know eating is part of their schedule, but them eating until they vomit is just unhealthy 🙈.

My sim's dorm mates bring in copious amounts of food and the kid won't stop eating. Just plate after plate after plate. If I have a sim prepare a meal for, say, their kid or spouse and leave it on the counter or in the fridge, they will go and eat it even thought their hunger bar is full. PC, W11 reviewed with and without CC.
ETA - a month later, even worse. Now it's constant. Every household.

It's like they are at an all you can eat buffet! The Sims get up for a second plate and sometimes a third plate even though their hunger bar was filled the first time. My Sims are going to be so overweight by the end of their get-a-way. 😧

I created a custom venue getaway for a ski resort, and had eat breakfast scheduled along with self care and bathe before the sims go off to do snow activities. I liked that at 9am all the sims went off to ski and snowboard including my own sims, I might actually go to the snow world more often as it was lively with sims doing activities for once.
I did not like that before that at 6am my sims that were not hungry - they had green food bars kept cancelling out my instructions to bathe which was yellow so they could eat. Even though eat was an activity it wasn't the only activity that could be done during this period of time.
I also noticed that the NPCs would eat one plate of food and immediately go and get another plate to begin eating. My sims did the same lining up multiple eat food in their queue's which I had to cancel out. I was very glad when the 3 hour window for self care/breakfast was over and it ticked over to the snow activities.
I'm not sure if I will keep eat as an action item in the future with how overpowered it worked if there is no balance to them eating based on their need bars and it's just lined up because that is the activity scheduled to do during that period of time regardless of if the sim is hungry or not.

Yeah I have the same problem with my "B&B" getaway. When I played with it last week I was literally like if my guests were Hansel and Gretel and my sims was the witch that planned to make them chubby 😅

I have this problem too, and it's not happening only at getaways but at home too.
