Alcohol in the sims

Hi,

I think they should release like a party pack where it makes "alcoholic" drinks temporarily boost all the needs your sim has and then once the drink wears off your needs drop to where they should be. So in theory it makes the player blind to the needs of the sim and kinda gives the sims a hangover effect if you weren't anticipating what your sims need.

@HffnrPlease note that Sims 4 is rate T for teen. Achohol per say would not be suitable for 13 year olds - where the rating begins on age level. This is based on the ESRB or Entertainment System Rating Board. By definition T rating means: Games with this rating contain content that the ESRB believes is suitable for ages 13 and over, including violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, frequent use of moderate language and/or infrequent use of strong language.

EA can work around "achohol" and other suggested elements to make it seem as crude humor to 13 year old minds. If you ever watched i.e. a Disney movie as an adult humor is different between a child and as an adult. An adult can understand a slip in adult joke thats enough for them to understand but not so much a child by standards. Shrek (understandly this is Dreamworks) is a good example to the statement. Disney has its movie rating lower for children but...an eccentric writer can help but slip an element or two for adult giggle.

@Hffnr As 3Rosez said, the game is rated T and they want to maintain that rating. Alcohol usage or reference on its own probably wouldn't get a game an M rating, but in addition to the crude humor, violence, and sexual themes, if they had a pack where you could get drunk, they might be pushing it.

I don't think this will ever happen, because throughout Sims 4, any alcoholic drinks have been subbed in for "Juice" or "Nectar". Even the drinks at the bar aren't explicitly stated to be alcohol, despite having names referencing popular mixed drinks.

Besides that, I don't love the idea of teaching kids that alcohol makes everything "better".
  • There is the fact that if you have Horse Ranch and your Sim drinks an entire bottle of “nectar” they’ll immediately pass out 😁
