I'm not planning on participating in it and I cant get the challenges off my screen! It sticks out like a sore thumb and its making my game glitch like crazy! I cannot find a way to remove it, I've done everything to try to hide it. Why are we not allowed to opt out of it? Are we really going to be stuck with this for 6 weeks??
EA needs to give the player more control over their game instead force feeding us situations and scenarios that many players are not interested in.

Also it completely goes against the games moto that they themselves came up with play the Sims your way it's your way of telling the Sims stories how? If you keep forcing these events on us that simmers don't want.

I made the mistake of clicking on it when it came on my home screen upon opening my game. I don't wish to be sidetracked by it at this time, nor do I share a fascination with Grimmie. In fact, unless the EP has more in it, I may bypass this one, too. As for removing the obnoxious task bar from my screen, today, I woke up and decided, since I do a Save As with each gaming session that I will go back to an earlier save, before this 'game' got started. I am not a happy camper at the moment, not at all.
I had hoped this EP would allow for our Sims to hold funerals for their deceased, as we could in Sims3. But unless, or until I see something on this order coming with the EP, I won't be purchasing it. I have no desire for one of my Sims to hook-up with Grim, at all. What I have seen so far, isn't much different, if at all, then what we can already do in the game. Money is tight these days for all of us. As stated, I don't share the fascination with it. To each his own . . .
I am raging. First of all, it doesn't work. I started it to get rid of it, because I didn't want it cluttering up my left hand corner. Then all the tasks disappeared. It has glitched the game, mail person is standing by the mailbox, pissing about. And THEN MY DAD DIED completely unexpectedly, no reaper, no reason and his urn appeared but the infant he was holding has disappeared but still is in the family line up. Player since Sims OG and this is quite literally the most major eff up I have ever witnessed. Maxis would have never supported this nonsense
I think I mostly clicked on the checkmark, not even realizing I was 'signing' into this distraction. I was hoping to learn more of what it was, quite frankly. Bothers me more than a little that now I'm stuck with it. That Save As rollback I talked about above? I was able to resolve some of my story issues, but even though that save began back in August, the irritating challenge thing still sits near the upper left-hand corner. Space dust!
The notion it will be around for possibly another seven weeks might risk my blood-pressure. EA, kindly allow those of us who were just having a peek to be removed from this misery. Thank you most kindly.

I don't mind it being up in the corner so much as I loathe the fact that it's flashing all the time. I press it to make the flashing go away but then I change person and the flashing starts right up again. I too wish I could turn it off, but most of all I just want it to stop flashing.
I play off-line to avoid it completely. That's the only option I know.
After StrangerVille, Journey To Batuu and Scenario system, Reaper's Rewards Event is as fun as doing homework.
Doing random tasks without a story isn't fun for me.

The difference is Strangerville, Batuu and scenarios are optional. You play them after choosing to do so. This event is started whether you want it or not.
I finished the first week but the icon remains on my screen all the time. I guess my supersim will have to wait with starting her family for the next few weeks.
No, I think you'll be stuck with it for 8 weeks. See the article at Reaper’s Rewards Event | EA Forums - 4967458. Line #7 in the numbered list says,
The Reaper’s Rewards Event will have six weeks of Quests and two extra weeks at the end, so there’s plenty of time to catch up and complete it!
I think the best thing to do is complete the challenges if you don't want to look at them. The challenges get removed from your screen once they are completed and this week's challenges were pretty simple. Of course, you'll still have the icon for the event but that's easier to ignore than a task list.
I don't know why there isn't an opt-out but my guess is that it's probably because the developers didn't expect many people who wouldn't want to get free stuff.
But I, like many I'm supposing, are in the middle of a storyline. I write about what happens with my Sims. This is a total distraction. When I first clicked on the page, that starts this whole mess, I had no clue as to what I was getting myself into. I'm boiling mad at the moment. I don't like to be interrupted when I'm working on a story.
The free stuff is great for those that want it.
I don't want it and I would like the option to opt out in the future.

EA really needs to up their game. I feel like a base game EP is coming our way after 10 years of play.
it sadly lags the game, even after disabling and removing cheats and mods and repairing my game the rewards won't update (yes I've seen the other threads solutions no they don't work). notifications take up a huge portion of the screen and are constantly flashing... its just not functional.
YES the whole game is lagging and the flashing event notifs in the corner take up a quarter of the screen. Why does EA like to force things upon people trying to play out escapism????
I don't have any flashing or lag. Online notifications are turned off in my game settings and I play offline? I see nothing about this event when I play offline.
We need as player to show in numbers we do not want this again as in noting that in each those social experiment the a noticeable reduction the product done again
