I just wanted to ask if anyone else has noticed that BEFORE the wants/fears update, there used to be a TON of choices, I based all my gameplay around what my sims wanted. For example, Sims with the Dog Lover Trait- they used to have Wants like : Adopt a dog (or cat), pet a dog, meet a new dog, take dog on a walk, play fetch with dog. And now this trait is useless for wants, I've had a dozen since the update & they have not wanted to interact once with their dog in the wants.
I'm literally seeing the exact same wants over & over. A sim with the Loves The outdoors trait used to want to do an assortment of things outside & now the only wants I see are "stay outside for 8 hours." Or "go fishing."
Children sims with the genius trait constantly get the "solve hard problems" want, and there's no option for it when the sim is selected - until they age up to teen.
Children with the cheerful trait constantly want to look at the brightside... when they are already in a happy mood.
I'm becoming so frustrated with it. I really liked being in control, just clicking the want out, and a new one would pop up easily, I don't think it was right to take that choice away. & now the wants are limited, the same ones popping up repeatedly.
Anyone else see this also?

Yeah, whims were way better than wants, and actually included things from all the packs you owned. When they scrapped them for wants & fears, they didn’t bother making the new system backward compatible so there are no wants or fears from anything in packs before High School Years. I used to play with whims all the time, but now I just keep wants & fears turned off.
why is this still going on after a year
@HotdogLucy It's disappointing that the Sims Team has a fantastic blueprint with the Sims 2 Wants and Fears but ignored it for the Sims 4 whims. Then they added "Wants and Fears" which has been a letdown for players and doesn't work like in the Sims 2.

I've wanted the wants & fears at first but now i prefer the whims over the wants and fears because it's so poorly made
The Sims 2 did this a lot better
Both whims and wants & fears can still be optional so we can switch it off
Some wants wants & fears while the others wants the whims back so it's a win-win
Now i hope we can convince them to have whims back again
