Create a sim

Why do the cheeks stick so far out when you turn your sim to the side? Every single cheek preset has the cheekbone sticking so far out that it makes the sim look weird and even when I go to detail mode and take it to the lowest level, the cheeks still poke out. My cheeks in real life do not poke out like this. Am I doing something wrong?? Is there a way to eliminate the cheeks sticking out?
