Where there's a will, there is sometimes a way.
The little batty bat seen in my screenshot is a custom CASMenu category with custom sub-categories that show only my custom items, and also seen in my screenshot is a custom filter that I just figured out how to do. It's all fully functional.
There are two parts to custom filters:
- CUSTOM TAGS NEED TO BE ADDED TO EVERY ITEM - Currently, there is no efficient way for simmers to do this. If we could get creators to co-operate with the idea, then they could add these custom TAGS when they're creating their items. Alternatively, if we could get Sims4Studio to co-operate, then maybe we can get a BATCH FIX that allows us to apply a custom TAG to a whole folder of mods the way we can apply a custom DISPLAY INDEX to a whole folder of mods.
- CERTAIN TUNINGS NEED TO BE MODIFIED TO CREATE THE CUSTOM FILTERS THAT WILL USE THOSE CUSTOM TAGS - I haven't done the troubleshooting yet in order to verify, but we might only be able to have ONE override containing custom filters at any given time. If true, it means that to have multiple filters, someone would need to maintain ONE override that everyone downloads, and I am more than willing to do this in order to make this dream a reality.
What I can't figure out how to do yet is how to filter for just all custom items or EAxis items. TwistedMexi was working on something once upon a time, but it was paywalled, and I have no idea if it was ever finished. From the preview I saw, there was a custom filter to show or hide EAxis items, similar to how Better BuildBuy's filters work.
As for applying filters to all categories, it's something EAxis would have to do themselves. I am not that knowledgeable in Scale Form GFX coding yet to make this a reality.
