Right now, the game creates new townies when my Sims use the computer to work.

I'm unsure if it's a bug or a feature. And my current game doesn't have "Get Famous" EP, so it may be different from other players, but what my issue is...

Every time that my sim uses the computer to do work-related interaction (ex., write a scientific paper, polish a comedy routine), the game always generates a new family (1-4 sims) that has one "style influencer (Lv 1)".

Firstly, I thought it only happened with a gardener/botanist career when using a computer to do a job, but my comedian sim is too.

And it never stops, even though the game already has a new style influencer. The game still creates it "non-stop"

----

I can notice this because I use mods to stop townie generate and I can see from MCCC's log and found something like this

[Jul-26-2025 13:48:22]* Created homeless household, Teague, containing 1 sim(s) for: filter_computerChat_Style_Influencer_Freelancer_Fashion_Photographer
[Jul-26-2025 14:11:30]* Created homeless household, Amos, containing 1 sim(s) for: filter_computerChat_Style_Influencer_Freelancer_Fashion_Photographer

Sometimes the family contains a full family with children, but mostly it is a single sim.

----

I also tested without the mod and still got a new family on "other household" after I did the action with the computer.

I suspect that there are some problems with NPC generation in the recent patch because Cottage Living NPCs are also messy right now. And I got some LE when it's San Myshuno's festival too. (But last thing may be only mod-related.)

If your game has many new families in "other household" lately, you might have the same issue as me.

  • I'm on Xbox Series X so mod free. The game is definitely generating more Townies. But I get them when going to a public lot, way too many. If my Sim travels and spends time in 1 or 2 worlds/public lots (without social lot traits) I get around 25 new households in OH, Townies that weren't even there on that particular lot. It's unsustainable on console and can contribute to lagging and crashing. I've mentioned it on other threads but I have to clear them out daily so as not to impact my game's stability and performance. I used to only have to do this weekly.

I firmly believe it's time for a Townie toggle.

The townie-generating situation in the game without mods is unacceptable for me because I want my screenshot to have only the Sims that I designed or edited. Don't want to see random ugly sims in the background.

As the game will make townies again to fill the role, I kept some townies with a bit of a makeover (I love the variety of them, so I change as little as possible). But I can't make over them forever if the game is making new unnecessary townies NON-STOP.

That's so crazy! And yes, the game creates some households even though they still do not appear on the lot.

They should do, or at least not make this even worse. I don't want to depend on the mods to prevent them. And console user should have a choice!

  • Good news, there is a mod that can stop generating "unnecessary" style influencers.

    https://www.curseforge.com/sims4/mods/no-new-style-influencer-townie-overhaul-less-fame

Although the mod description talked about the style influencer career, I saw that the tuning file name is the same. So this should work for my case as well.

I tested it, and this can fix the computer interaction. Now I don't have to delete Sims every time after my Sims work with the computer.

    This is good to know.

You can find a mod to fix or upgrade your game always with The Sims if you play on PC.🙂

Right, it would be better if the console player could get this too, but better than not for now.

I thought I had to give up on this issue, but having this mod show up yesterday can solve one of the most buggy things in my game. Sadly that there are so many mods I install to fix bugs that shouldn't exist in the first place. But I can't play without it for now (especially mod to stop random townies)
