Demanding to sign into EA services WTF!!

I need to open this with WTF!

I purchased an expansion pack for my daughter and installed it on her account on her Xbox. I don't want her to have an EA games account because I do not want her to have an unnecessary online presents but the game demanded it. Then after setting up an account for her as she is underaged then I was asked to provide a credit card number to confirm my identity as an adult.

This is ridiculous and not to mention pointless, because not only does my daughter have a debit card the works exactly like a credit card and she is aged 11! or i could get a prepaid credit card to do exactly the same. So explain to me how is this a "confirming my age"?

I didn't want to use mine personal card due my preferences on not to expose my credit/debit cards to unnecessary online risks. Please don't reply that your "trusted partners" are guaranteed secure because data violations happen every day and the safest policy is to avoid leaving excessive online footprint.

Then even after begrudgingly entering a card to confirm my age then got given a username. I entered that username into the sign-in screen then didn't accept the username

This experience not only has fortified my opinion of EA games and I can ensure you it is not positive

  • Markingtomb0 Hi there. As a long time console player I can't speak to the credit card requirement but I can explain the need for a EA account. The add-on content is purchased from Microsoft for Xbox but it's an EA game which is maintained and updated by EA. The EA account needs to be linked to receive the regular updates and bug fixes necessary to maintain the game. It's also the only way to access The Gallery to download other players creations or upload your own. Plus we get regular Sims Delivery Express (SDX) drops of free content for players which could be build items or clothing for example. We also have regular timed events, in fact there's one just started this week called the Forever Friends event. This is where players have tasks to complete with their Sims and get rewards of free content to add to their game upon completion. These all require the EA account to be linked.

If a username wasn't accepted it's sometimes because it already exists for another player. The username has to be unique. I took a few attempts with mine too.

I'm attaching the news page from EA which has some patch notes available and game news from EA to give you an idea of what EA is doing for The Sims 4 with new content and updates.
