I think it would even be a great improvement if the moodlets from the old negative traits like Gloomy and Hot-Headed etc. would be a lot stronger, so the negative emotions don't get instantly overpowered because the Sim is wearing freshly washed clothes and ate a nice meal.
It's done a lot better with the High Maintenance trait. And also the new grief moodlets from Life & Deaths are a little stronger and at least have an effect on the overall mood more often.
