Family Relationships

I would like to see family relationships included, such as in-laws, great-great-grandparents, great-great-grandchildren, stepchildren, stepsiblings, stepparents, and stepmothers. I believe it's essential to add this to the base game, as it brings more life to families and generations in the family tree, thus preventing incest, flirting, and sexual encounters between relatives who aren't officially related due to the lack of family relationships. Thank you in advance. I've been a loyal player since the first Sims game and currently play The Sims 4. Best regards, Ateliris ✨🤍✨ #suggestion #request #petition #familyrelationships #sims4

  • I agree. I haven’t created a deep enough family tree to experience this myself, but the thought is certainly quite disturbing and typically doesn’t happen irl. This would also develop the family dynamic feature in Parenthood since it’ll be able to extend to other family members, which sounds great for me personally.

  • I want second cousins and third cousins to acknowledge each other as cousins I mean your grandma and Grandpa are siblings.

  • I agree, my main sim has 4 children with different dads a set of twins from one and one boy from another and a girl from another but when I open the genealogy tab for the twins their brother and sister dads arent even on there and vice versa. I get that the twins aren't related to the boys dad or the girls dad but it should still show their dads on their tab, from their point of view it's like their siblings don't have dads and I find that weird cause they're all part of the same family. I have a many generations legacy family and the amount of times their 'ancestors' call inviting a long removed family member on a date is just silly or they'll met them out and about and start flirting, it's kind of creepy. My sims might not recognise them as family members but I know who they are 😂

That's right, it would be a great gesture from the team towards Simmers like us and a huge evolution of the game in terms of healthy and harmonious family dynamics. They could include it in an update, since they've improved and introduced so many different aspects that didn't exist in the original Sims 4. Cheers! ✨🤍✨

Ideally, it would include a wide range of relationship selection options where each Sim could choose how to recognize other Sims as second-degree relatives, third-degree relatives, and in-laws, similar to the options we have for choosing each Sim's gender, sexual orientation, and the limits of their romantic relationship.

Yes, it's shameful and awful that there are romantic interactions and flirting between family members because the game doesn't recognize it as such. It breaks the family dynamic that defines The Sims series. A more comprehensive system of relationship choices and family bonds would make us want to keep playing for many more generations. Cheers! ✨🤍✨
