family tree update is ruining my life

I’ve been playing the same legacy families for like 10 years. They’re all related somehow and now none of my couples can have romantic interactions anymore, or have any more children with each other. I have hundreds of Sims and it’s like none of them are married. This is so upsetting. Also, I absolutely hate the new family tree. I cannot see anything. It is so spread out. I do like the new more distinct relationship labels, but everything else is making my gameplay so crummy.
