Feedback: bulldozing lots from main world screen

I thought there was another thread somewhere about this but I can't find it, so I've created a new one (it could have been perhaps only mentioned within another topic).

Is it possible to give us the option to bulldoze lots without having to load the lot first? It seems it would help correct issues such as specific lots crashing the game (one recent thread HERE) and also wiping the map clean for those users who wish to completely remake it without the loading screen each time.

Thanks for any consideration you can give to this!

@LadyAofPineapple  - I agree. A Bulldoze button would be a good addition for the Manage Worlds screen.

Why code a Bulldoze button that's accessible from the Manage Worlds screen?

    • To empty multiple lots without the need to load into each lot.
    • Bypass multiple loading screens.

The current system to Bulldoze multiple lots:

Starting from the Manage Worlds screen:

    1. Select Lot > Confirm
    2. Loading Screen...
    3. Bulldoze Lot
    4. Select Manage Worlds
    5. Loading Screen...
    6. Repeat

    OPTION 1: Workaround

    Preparation

Steps for creating an EMPTY Lot Library

    1. Find the smallest Empty lot (20x15 in Newcrest)
    2. Select Lot > Confirm
    3. Loading Screen...
    4. Save Lot to Library
    5. Exit to Manage Worlds
    6. Loading Screen...

EDIT: These steps no longer needed

    1. Naming convention is key.
      • Type "Empty" in each title for easy searchability.
      • Example: Empty 30x20
      • Searching for "Empty" will result with all Empty Lot saves to choose for placement.
    2. Repeat for each lot size  EDIT: j/k you only the smallest lot  EDIT: j/k you only need to save the smallest size lot.

      • 40x20
      • 40×30
      • 40×40
      • 50×40
      • 50×50
      • 64×64

Now your Library is ready for any variety of Faux-Bulldoze options to implement from the Manage Worlds screen.

    Placement

    From the Manage Worlds screen:

    1. Open Gallery - F4
    2. Go to your Library
    3. Select a saved "Empty" Lot by size
      Choose Placement option:
      • Place & Edit - One off
      • Place Lot - If placing multiple "Empty" Lots
    4. Select: Place Lot
    5. Choose lot to make "Empty"
    6. Click Confirm
    7. Pop-Up (Furnished or Unfurnished?) > Confirm
    8. Repeat for additional "Bulldozing"

    OPTION 2

Create a Bulldoze Button clickable from the Manage Worlds screen.

    1. Choose lot
    2. Click Bulldoze

    Which way seems more efficient?

Personally, I'm all for Option 2.

  • This is a very interesting idea. And should be feasible - can’t we place from the library without loading the lot? (As long as it isn’t the new residential rental anyway) So wiping a lot would be essentially “placing” a flat empty lot…

    @LadyAofPineapple

As far as I know there have been no examples of lots crashing the game when editing them from Manage World only in live mode. You would still get a loading screen when you loaded the lot to edit it. So being able to bulldoze a lot from manage world would just add a step for no benefit.

@jpkarlsen Just tested. I can place lots from my library while in manage worlds. But I know this has been reported broken for residential rentals.

  • @Vyo4 You know... since placing a lot completely replaces the existing lot, for option 1 you probably only need to make the smallest lot - it will fit anywhere, and delete anything there previously, even if the lot is bigger.

@PipMenace Thank you! Learned something new. Tested it out and updated my post.
  • You’re right, the ability to bulldoze on the world map might be redundant when the game functions properly… and I agree with the use cases already brought up (bulldozing many at once, saving time…) BUT, I have a very specific issue that this would solve for me and others experiencing the same ambiguous lot corruption issues. At this point in my 5 year save file, now ALL of my lots are corrupt in Selvadorada, Willow Creek, and Sulani. Some in Oasis Springs. And, there are 3 reasons I’ve discovered (so far) that can cause lot corruption.

    1. CC in the lot that is no longer compatible

    2. A bug with For Rent… my “current” played household, now OWNS all of these corrupted residential lots… haven’t figured this one out yet. The ownership changes based on the household I’m playing as. I am able to select “Sell Business” but I don’t have the options to Edit the lot, Evict, or Move out the household. So when I select “Sell Business”, the household appears to be evicted, but in manage households, it still says they live in Willow Creek, for example. I was able to move one household into a new home and have more to test there.

    3. Lot Type changes - I have some lots where the type was changed and the lot is still functional. But others (Selvadorada) - I believe EA made a change to standard vacation rental lot types (the new types say Vacation Rental - Granite Falls, instead of what it originally said, Rental)

The variables that apply to my personal save file:

    - all of these lots were touched by me

    - some of these lots were from the gallery

    - a few lots had old CC

    - some lot types were changed in each of these worlds

         - Granite Falls did NOT change any lot types, so when EA made the type name change, the transfer was smooth, and my lots are functional! But in Selvadorada, I had changed almost all of the lot types. So that’s part of my hunch at least for vacation worlds… since I believe we will be getting another one in an upcoming pack soon..

In the beginning of the 5 year save, I played around with Mods, but when EA started pushing updates and those delivery items, which at least for me, made mods so much more cumbersome to use.

So long story short, I have a very specific need to bulldoze my lots from the world map. I’m researching currently if I can resolve this somehow programmatically… modify that lot record in my save file?? If anyone knows how to do something like that please let me know! I am not a programmer necessarily but work in information systems.
