This has been my comfort/cozy game for 20+ years. I have invested well over $1k into this series, spanning from Sims 1 to Sims 4, including nearly all of the DLC. Throughout it all, I have watched the slow dissolution of Maxis, as EA took over and continuously found ways to shamelessly monetize this franchise. It has been so incredibly disappointing, especially because this series has meant so much to so many traditional and non-traditional gamers, neurodivergent and neurotypical alike. As I have watched, I have been more selective and intentional with the DLC I continue to add to this game.
EA approved this pulsating "feature". This final attention-grabbing feature, which may frequently be seen in free-to-play or ad-heavy mobile games. It is a feature whose sole purpose is to annoy/distract the user until they click/interact with it to make additional purchases of DLC (even if they own all of it already) for it to go away.
This is the most shameless. EA should be ashamed of themselves for this one.
