I would like an option in game settings to hide the cart button.  It is completely unnecessary to have it showing all of the time while playing the game.

Yep, Cart button is nothing but an intrusion and needs an option to be disabled. If you already own everything or just dont' want to be constantly reminded that you don't own everything, it's completely unnecessary.  Stop it.
