I would like an option in game settings to hide the cart button. It is completely unnecessary to have it showing all of the time while playing the game.

Hey all,
Small update: I've moved this thread from the Bug Reports section now that the Epatch is confirmed to have resolved the aspects of the shopping cart we considered bugged.
This thread is now in the Feedback section to aide me in gathering and reporting on all of the conversations taking place here for the wider team, I've also unmarked it as "resolved" to more clearly represent that we're still monitoring this.
Please keep your feedback coming in the thread, it's all being recorded and reported up the chain.
Thanks!
- 2 years ago@EA_Cade I don't know the etiquette on these forums because i'm never here but just joining the chat to say I hate this shopping cart button so much. If it stays in game i will stop playing or figure out how to finally mod this darn thing to remove this button because it is so disrespectful. I've bought almost every pack and get excited for new ones but when i'm playing i'm not gonna interrupt play with a misclick especially as that leads to major delays or crashing for my computer. I hate it. Inside the sims world is not the place for a blatant ad clogging the UI and it comes across as so rude. Its sending the message that my hundreds of dollars sunk into this game are not enough. I'm a game dev too and often defend EA in convos saying they've got to make money but this is ridiculous

As long as you keep your posts in-line with the rules and guidelines found on the FAQ page under User Rules & Guidelines you'll be absolutely fine.
All of this feedback is being collated and sent to the wider team for review daily, I hear you.

You don't need 32 pages to be able to sum up that we don't want a 4th level of being pressured to buy more broken stuff. But sure, if the higher ups want a repeat of the "suprise mechanics" reddit threads then let's have at it.
Because we can get hot fixes for stuff that's "more annoying then it should be", but not game breaking bugs untill we're like 2-3 months into a pack and two more bits of content have been released.
- LadyAofPineapple2 years agoSeasoned Ace@EA_Cade I posted somewhere on X/Twitter that the gallery is a MUCH more organic way to sell packs, at least the way the gallery used to be. I feel that the in-game button needs to go, and these efforts focused on the gallery (for perhaps individuals/teams not involved with game play content and fixes). Following creators and seeing activity in my newsfeed actually did convince me to buy packs such as Journey to Batuu (I am not a SW fan) because I saw BB items being used in such creative ways. And I know when and where to buy packs, and am alerted to sales, all without the need to intrude upon game immersion. Honestly, the way packs are advertised already is overkill for any fan of the Sims franchise.
All in all, if this truly was a test, I'd say it was a failure, and maybe next time, EA could get feedback from actual simmers before implementing such a controversial thing.
Thank you for communicating with us and also for speaking up for us.- PandoraTO2 years agoSeasoned Ace@LadyAofPineapple, wow I never thought about that before, but you’re totally right about the gallery. Back when it was fun to use (i.e., before the migration), I was on the gallery a lot and it did inspire me to buy certain packs. But they botched the migration and then basically abandoned it. (For all we know. They won’t tell us anything about it anymore. I even posted here to ask about it within the last week. Crickets.) I hardly use it now.
On the other hand, I will never touch a shopping cart button. Whenever it actually seems safe to patch, I’ll also update BBB and get rid of the cart. But I shouldn’t have to, and not everyone has that option.
