Can't believe this thread hasn't gotten more feedback since EA's clarification. I would love to hear the explanation for why they made it this way, because I can't imagine what design choices could have made it remotely reasonable to deliberately obstruct infant gameplay and force players (unless we delete the play mat entirely as soon as an infant learns to sit/scoot or crawl, which I, for one, hate being forced to do every time) to micromanage every time their mobile infant gets put down because Sims will autonomously imprison them on the play mat for no reason instead of putting them on the floor where they can move around and play with objects and interact with their environment (which, by the way, is actually developmentally vital for babies), blocking access to basically all infant-as-active-sim gameplay.
