[GT][BH][AA] No generic "Socialize" activity for Clubs, Businesses, or Getaways
Issue Description
When creating Clubs (Get Together), setting Business Activities (Businesses & Hobbies), or scheduling Retreat Activities (Adventure Awaits), there is no generic "Socialize" or "Be Social" activity for Adults that would allow them to use social interactions across all categories (Friendly, Funny, Romantic, Mischief, and Mean) based on their personalities.
The only similar option is available for Children. However, this option does not work for Adult Sims.
As a workaround, players must select individual social categories (Friendly, Funny, Romantic, Mischief, Mean) separately. This consumes 5 of the 5 available activity slots, leaving no room for any other activities. There is no way to have Sims socialize organically according to their own personalities and traits.
Expected Behavior
A single "Socialize" or "Be Social" activity should be available for Adult and Teen Sims. When this activity is encouraged, Sims should autonomously perform social interactions from any category (Friendly, Funny, Romantic, Mischief, Mean) based on their traits, current mood, and relationships—exactly how Children already function.
From the official Get Together feature description, Clubs are designed so Sims can "...choose from over one hundred activities... Your Club can have five Encouraged Activities, which creates a ton of possibilities." This description suggests the system should accommodate a wide range of club concepts . Additionally, the design philosophy behind Clubs is that "rules will only supersede behavior when your Sim is in a Club Gathering... We wanted to make sure those different Clubs were just that: different" . A generic socialize option would allow clubs to focus on who Sims interact with, not micromanaging how, creating more unique and varied club behaviors.
Steps to Reproduce
- For Clubs: Open the Clubs panel, create a new club, and navigate to the "Club Activities" section. Note the available activity options.
- For Businesses: Open the Business panel, navigate to "Business Activities," and review available activities.
- For Getaways: Open the Getaway Planner, create a custom getaway, and review available role activities.
- Observe the activity lists for Adult Sims.
Actual Result
- Adult/Teen Sims: Social activities are split into five separate categories :
- Be Friendly
- Be Funny
- Be Romantic
- Be Mean
- Be Mischievous
- Impact on Club/Business/Getaway Design:
- Maximum allowed encouraged activities is 5 per club, business, or getaway role.
- To allow a full range of social interactions, players must select all 5 social categories, using all available slots.
- This leaves no room for other important activities (e.g., Drink, Eat, Dance, Work Out, etc.).
- Clubs designed around social interaction (e.g., social clubs, singles clubs, friend groups) cannot function as intended without sacrificing either social variety or other activities.
Additional Notes
- The Club system in Get Together is designed to allow players to "create a club in which up to 8 Sims can join, as well as customize their members' interests, personalities, behavior and style" .
- The official description emphasizes that "Sims can join up to three different social clubs, but can only meet up with one at a time" . The intended flexibility is undermined by the lack of a generalized social activity.
- The current design forces players to choose between:
- Option A: Using all 5 slots for social categories (no room for eating, drinking, dancing, or other club activities).
- Option B: Selecting only 1-2 social categories (Sims ignore other social interaction types, leading to repetitive behavior).
- Option C: Not encouraging social activities at all (Sims stand around doing nothing or leave the gathering).
- This issue affects three different systems across three different packs, suggesting a shared design template that was never updated to include a generic adult social option.
- The problem occurs without mods in a fully vanilla game.
Impact
High. This design flaw significantly limits creative club, business, and getaway design. Players cannot create realistic social clubs where Sims interact organically without sacrificing all other activity slots. The feature feels incomplete compared to the child version of the same mechanic. This is especially problematic for:
- Dating/singles clubs (need Friendly, Funny, AND Romantic, plus often Drink/Dance)
- Social butterfly clubs (need all social categories)
- Friend groups (need Friendly and Funny, plus Eat/Drink together)
- Any club focused on relationships rather than specific tasks
The issue reduces gameplay variety and frustrates players who want to create well-rounded social experiences.
