Re: Roof building in The Sims 4 would greatly benefit from an overhaul

One area of Build Mode that I think deserves attention is roof behavior, especially when creating open interiors or multi-story spaces.

Currently, removing a floor causes roofs to clip through exterior walls and become visible from the inside of the build. This has been a longstanding issue that many builders have learned to work around rather than solve. In some cases, using a half-hipped roof or a gabled roof with shortened gable ends helps because the roof aligns with the exterior wall and stays mostly hidden from the interior.

However, this workaround doesn't exist for rounded roof types. Curved, pentagonal, hexagonal, and octagonal roofs always extend into the interior when the floor of the interior is removed, making them impractical for builds with vaulted ceilings, cathedrals, towers, or other open spaces.

A feature that could solve this would be the ability to create "half" versions of these rounded roof types, similar to how halved hipped roofs work. Allowing builders to choose a halved curved roofs would eliminate most of the clipping issues while greatly expanding the usefulness of the curved roofing system.

This would encourage players to use the curved roof features more often and make them much more versatile. Since building is a major part of The Sims 4 for a large portion of the community, improvements like this would have a meaningful impact on creative freedom and reduce the need for awkward workarounds.
