Just because the diversity and option would be available does not mean you have to use it. If you wouldn't like to play as a sim with a chronic illness then you wouldn't have to because you're in control. (I hope that doesn't come off mean, I was just trying to solve the problem.) Since I am a T1D and people like me are often not included or represented in pretty much anything, I would LOVE to play as a sim that has my illness for inclusion. It would be an option like the same way that hair and hair styles are an option🤷🏼
@MommaStroner I really appreciate you starting this thread. Sorry I'm a bit late but I just saw it tagged in someone else's post. Anyway, I know how important it is to have representation out in the world, especially for those of us who often feel less-than in society. As a gay man with LOTS of issues and baggage, it was wonderful to discover TS4 through which I could make my dream world where same-sex couples could marry and have babies like it's totally normal. When I started playing, gender customization was already part of the game as well. However, there are no LGBT traits, so while I could have my sims meet and flirt and do "normal" things in the base game, there are no moods or buffs that go along with it. Like the positivity of being around other LGBT and allies or the negativity of feeling awkward around those who hate LGBT people. Then I found a LGBT mod and everything changed! It would be amazing if the TS4 team could add these kinds of things to the game. However, I realize what a massive undertaking it could be trying to accommodate the representation of every individual on the planet. So I second @Player_jp5s5eav 's suggestion to look for mods. I did a quick search just now and didn't find any diabetes mods but I saw a few chronic illness mods. I know that's not the same thing but maybe they'll add a bit of realness to enhance your game.
