Issues creating a character?

Please post picture examples of what you consider to be "normal". I can easily make male sims in-game with all the packs I own, I can make a many different styles for males so they don't all appear the same. As for the editing of the body, use a preset that looks close to what you want and use the muscle and fat sliders to get the shape before you do the detailed editing with the mouse to pull areas of the body or face.

Can you upload a screenshot of what you're seeing? I just started a new game and randomized two male Sims using only Base Game clothing and these are the clothing options I see. Plenty of generic looking clothes were available in both shirts and pants. 

I think it's possible they have a cross dressing sim, should check the options in CAS, there's all sorts of options for male sims to behave like female sims, like pee sitting, get pregnant, wear female clothes, etc. 

Have you filtered the clothing selection in CAS to show only the masculine options? They did add a few inclusive items to the male wardrobe, like a binding top that looks like a bra, but not too many that that's all you should see and make it unable for you to create a purely male sim 🤔
