My game crashes with every update

Are the updates even worth it anymore? I just want to be able to play the game. There is an update every week. My game crashes for days to months with every update. I stopped buying content for a game I can hardly even play. The updates should be optional since I couldn't care less for updates that stop me from being able to play altogether. How can I get my game to work again? Almost sick of playing the game altogether.
