Newcrest needs updating/upgrading

A lot of players, since the world's introduction, have actually been put off by, and avoid playing in Newcrest. Sometimes it comes down to the emptyness, but usually its because the world is too bland and too sparse; lots of lots are spread apart, dont have enough size variation or have not enough of wanted lot sizes - it makes some players prefer playing in prebuilt/prepopulated worlds.

Many areas of the world in Newcrest suffer from early-sims 4's technical limitations - having tons of shells and little of playable space besides the lots.

Since sims 4 can now be graphically more intensive and theoretically hold more lots and enviromental details, thanks to directx11, i believe Newcrest should be updated with more lots, both small and large.

The lots I'd add would make the 3 neighbourhoods more distinct with a few lots closer and a few spreading out which would, inturn, make a more lively atmosphere and the player could choose a more consistent or more chaotic landscape rather than the pre-destined willow creek architecture of the shell assets.

Llama Lagoon would get 2 new lots, Bridgeview would get 4 and Ridgeline Drive would get 1 new lot.

Besides lots I'd also love to see the enviroment get updated with less houses for more greenery and social spots like in some worlds. I feel that the willow creek house assets limit how well some styles blend into the enviroment and thus tends to stifle some's creativity.

I also feel Newcrest has the potential to be more adaptive to dlc and new systems - there could be events that happen in newcrest or a dlc could bring it's gameplay into newcrest; maybe there could be a nature appreciation event near the river in Llama lagoon or a fortune teller /tarot card reader in the woods of Ridgeline drive.

  • @boredewil , interesting... I usually play in Newcrest, unless I'm testing out a new world, or unless I have a specific environment in mind when I build a new household.  😄 It was made to be a blank slate so we could make it into however we wanted, which is definitely needed in the game! For example, we can build super modern looking houses and community lots here or we can fill it entirely with Medieval castles with the castle kit we got this year.😊  Any style fits in place with New Crest!  Also, I actually like that the lots aren't really close to each other, since there are some neighborhoods in real life that are like this!
However, I do agree that there should be a few bigger lots since those bigger ones are hard to come by and some of them are in neighborhoods that are too specialized for some of the builds we might want to place on a large lot. There have been many large buildings that I have wanted to place in New Crest and can't because the lots here aren't big enough! 😢

  • Unfortunately I'm not a builder to begin with, so this world is bit useless for me sadly ☹️ but it would be nice to have an updated newcrest for players like myself who aren't builders lol. I don't have the creativity juice to build since I like to just jump into game and play.

@ritaarmijo6 , I am not a builder either!😅  I rarely build anything, as I prefer making Sims in CAS and then playing with them in Live Mode!  However, I get around my lack of building skills by downloading houses that I like from the Gallery!  I do have some favorite builders that I use over and over, but I also experiment with builders that are new to me. I even have a friend @SheriGR  who is a builder that doesn't like making Sims, so I will make Sims that she downloads to play with in her buildings she makes, and then I download her buildings to use with the Sims that I make!😄  The builders (such as @SheriGR),  that play-test their lots are the best because their houses and venues aren't just pretty, but will actually function as intended!  This is why I love New Crest soooooo much ... I get a place to test out all the cool houses and commercial lots that I downloaded from the Gallery! 🥳 🥰

@PugLove888 Thank you for your kind and generous comments! I agree 100%... I enjoy our symbiotic relationship, as well as our friendship, very, very much! I even went through two sets of extensive breeding then raising of 'supersims' recently, as you well know, and though I loved the outfits I picked for them at each stage, I only made one of each type of outfit and couldn't wait to get out of CAS... though I was spending enormous amounts of time playing them! I will spend a crazy number of hours building a home, and the detail work on that doesn't grate me like CAS does. Anyway... I digress...

@boredewil and @ritaarmijo6 I can see your point if you have no passion for building in-game, and if you don't like finding homes in the gallery to place there, Newcrest would feel like a waste of a world! I remember when I first opened it thinking whaaaatttt??? However, like @PugLove888, I believe I've ended up spending the vast majority of my play time in Newcrest, and definitely most of my build time there. I am rather obsessed with filling it with stuff I make or choose and populating the whole place since it has more empty lots for my sims to do so. It's rare that I do anything now but bulldoze a house that came with the game and place one I like if I plan to play on the lot. I basically leave the lots that come with the game for the NPCs. There are tons of wonderful homes in the gallery. If you look around some, you can find some builders that make homes in styles and designs that you really love, and you can download them to your game and place them in Newcrest. If you place enough of these you may find you really like that it then can get filled with your favorite homes!

Having said that, though, I agree with your both that it would be nice if they would fill about half the lots in Newcrest with homes. Goodness, they could easily get from the gallery or ask some of the most popular builders to do it to their specifications, and these players would be over the moon to do so!! Players could always just bulldoze whatever homes they don't want in the case of Newcrest also.

And I love your point that if the technology can accommodate it better now, it would be amazing if they opened up more empty lots for the ability to add to the existing worlds. Players have been yearning for this for years! And I agree with what @PugLove888 said about the larger lots... there are definitely not enough of them! Some types of builds work best on a larger lot, and there are just not many of them to choose from... and a 64x64 in Newcrest would be a great idea!

@SheriGR LOL!  Your aversion to CAS is the other side of the same coin as my aversion to building! 🤣  I've only made 2 builds that didn't drive me insane... one was a tiny house, and the other was a version of my childhood home (although I got so tired with it that I wasn't that accurate on what would have been my bedroom, and I got frustrated when I messed up my parent's bathroom!  All other builds I have made I wanted to pull my hair out! 😖🤪😅  And I also value our friendship and symbiotic relationship (or should I say SIMbiotic Relationship?!😄)

@boredewil and @ritaarmijo6 I hope that they at least will give us more 64 x64 empty lots in the game, because we really need them! So many talented builders have made beautiful large houses, and we need more large lots to place them on.  I prefer a world like New Crest because I don't have to worry about existing styles that the house I want to place will clash with.  I understand why this world might seem pointless to you, but give it a try by using the Gallery! 😉

  • @boredewil Newcrest was made because a lot of simmers wanted an empty world to start from scratch and a lot of simmers want more empty worlds then just Newcrest.
