Not only are you both wrong but confidently wrong and these screenshots showing the mechanics in game prove it.
I can use the in-game mechanics to switch it up when it comes to which residence is my main home. That is what happens when you have multiple generations in a save. My main family owns everything, and I have some of family living in our Summer home and some living in our Winter lodge. It does take imagination and sometimes some finagling with menus in manage worlds, but it can be accomplished. It also is in my save that has 30+ generations, so I used my imagination before using the For Rent system to achieve owning multiple homes. The key is to use the systems already given by the devs, along with the imagination for the game to simulate the life of my pixelated people. Just similar to how some use the in-game mechanics to play a world with fantasy creatures. I don't do that, but I know that is all some simmers like to do. I found a way to simulate having multiple homes. It has quirky in-game restrictions, but it works for my gameplay.
Simulating owning everything isn’t the same as literally owning everything. You can roleplay multiple homes, but the game doesn’t actually let a household have more than one active residence. Visiting a lot you own isn’t the same as living there. I’m talking about mechanics, not imagination. You wasted my time trying to pass off imagination as a system the game actually has. Imagination doesn’t replace missing features. Pretending the game supports multiple homes doesn’t mean it does.
Simulating ownership isn’t the same as actual ownership. You wasted my time pretending your headcanon is a real mechanic.
Owning multiple rental homes and giving them to your sims family members and having them give you their keys is not the same thing as owning secondary residenences.
Owning rental property ≠ owning secondary residences.
UberDrew1, I don't "just visit." Right now my main couple is living in the Big House where they have a large vineyard in Willow Creek and sell top quality nectar with his parents. The parents live in a granny suite on the lot. His sister and family lives on their private Island in Tartosa and his brother crashes at the capsule hotel they own in Mt. K, when he isn't at his job. They move to the large apartments in each those places a couple weeks every year. I play on long lifespan, so it works. Their children are two kids are just a baby and a toddler. I am gettingvtoo bored of the vineyard, since I have played 3 generations there. Think I will have my find a new place for my next gen to live, but her parents will most likely buy it as a wedding gift. See, that is using the in-game mechanics to achieve owning multiple residences. Btw, using the residential rental system means I can charge extra family $0. I do occasionally have to move sims between households to have it work, but in my own imagination, it is like they are moving to the other locations temporarily. I also have a live in housekeeper at the "Big House" that runs it while my main family is living elsewhere. See the imagination can help when using the in-game mechanics available.
