Pegi rating dynamics

Subject: Important suggestions for The Sims, dynamic PEGI ratings, and EA SPORTS FC improvements

Dear EA  team,

My name is Lilly van Boxtel. I’m a dedicated player from the Netherlands who spends many hours in your games like The Sims 4 and EA SPORTS FC 25. I would like to share my detailed insights, ideas and concerns to help improve your games and protect players — while also making gameplay more fair and responsible.

This email is split into three main points:

---

🔶 **1. The Sims: Dynamic PEGI ratings and parental control**

I strongly believe the PEGI system could evolve to become dynamic, directly integrated into your games. Here’s my concept:

- Games like The Sims 4 could start at a PEGI 12 base level.

- If a player wants more explicit content (for example nudity, or later perhaps stronger romance themes), they can choose to enable this in the settings.

- At that point:

    - The game requires them to enter their birth date and real name, linked to their email account.

    - If underage, it prompts for a secure parental PIN to approve.

    - If the age data doesn’t match or if someone tries to fraud (like a 12-year-old selecting 18), the system issues a warning:

        > “You have attempted to misrepresent your age. This permanently locks your access to PEGI 16+ or 18+ content, even when you become older. Please be honest.”

    - If the player is verified to be old enough, the game then upgrades to PEGI 16+ or 18 with a clear message:

        > “By enabling this, your game will now be permanently classified at PEGI 16+/18+. You cannot revert to PEGI 12.”

This system:

- keeps the game accessible for younger players,

- but also empowers honest players and parents to decide responsibly,

- ensures that explicit content is never accidentally accessed,

- and prevents fraudulent changes that undermine the protection ratings are meant to provide.

I believe PEGI’s entire philosophy is about making people responsible for their own choices. This would be the perfect way to evolve the system to modern standards, especially since services like Netflix and Disney+ already allow dynamic profiles.

🔶 **2. EA SPORTS FC: gameplay fairness, women’s representation, and transfer market issues**

I’ve spent countless hours playing EA SPORTS FC (previously FIFA) and noticed serious issues that need improvement:

✅ **Player balance and meta**

- The game’s meta heavily favors certain players (like Mbappé or Van Dijk).

- Female players, even with similar stats, often feel underpowered or slower, reducing diversity.

- It would be more fair if each player’s effectiveness was truly based on their stats and traits, not boosted just because they are famous.

✅ **Women’s competitions**

- I strongly suggest adding separate Weekend Leagues:

    - one purely for men’s teams,

    - one purely for women’s teams.

- This ensures balanced matchups and encourages people to build and compete with full women’s squads, giving them proper recognition.

✅ **Ultimate Team economy**

- Older editions like FIFA 19 had rich transfer markets with moderately priced stars, making progression fun.

- In FC 25, even after hundreds of hours, I haven’t packed a single player over 100k value.

- The feeling of improvement through trading or building is diminished.

- It would help if pack odds were more transparent and there were offline ways (like tournaments vs CPU) to earn meaningful rewards.

✅ **Multiple accounts and coin abuse**

- Players with multiple accounts or coin transfers make the market unfair.

- A stronger verification and monitoring system could reduce this.

---

🔶 **3. Why this matters**

All these points come from deep personal experience and many conversations with other players. I want games that are fair, safe, realistic, and respectful to both young and older audiences.

A dynamic PEGI system (like the one I described) would set an incredible industry standard. It would also keep games accessible to families while giving adults the freedom to enable more mature features — always with irreversible accountability, to prevent misuse.

Meanwhile, improving EA SPORTS FC’s fairness, economy and representation would make your football title truly inclusive and enjoyable long-term.

🙏 **Thank you for reading this long and detailed message.**

I truly hope you’ll consider these ideas and let me know if there are internal teams who would want further details.

Kind regards,
