Pet Controls - Sims 4

I think it’d be a good idea to introduce being able to play as pets again. It was a great feature in sims 3 & made it more fun in general. Even if no new things are added as to what a pet can do, I think pet controls should be added back into the game. I’ve really missed this feature ☹️

  • @blh2407 The Sims 3 was the first time we could play as the pets! 🥳   Sims 1, Sims2, and Sims 4 only treat pets like it is real life.  This was one of the best features of the Sims 3!!! 🥰
I remember before Sims 4 Cats & Dogs came out, there was a poll on the Official Sims 4 site forums (the ones that are no longer running), and surprisingly way more people wanted realistic pet gameplay which meant that those of us like yourself and me were in the minority. I also saw similar feedback on other sites.  But then when Cats & Dogs was finally released, all the people who thought like us came out of the woodwork and now it seems that way more people want to play as the pets over having realistic pet gameplay.

I don't think they can add this to the game at this point, but I hope in the future that they let us play as our pets!  This way, those who want realistic gameplay can ignore playing from the pets point of view and play realistically, and then everyone is happy! 😊

🐱 I'd definitely like more control over pets. Lately my Sim's dogs won't stop swimming in pools and leaving water puddles everywhere, plus it makes them need baths more often! I wish I could control them myself and keep them out of pools. But for now I'm banning them from the backyard instead and fencing them off...which feels a bit mean! Even Couch Potatoes love a dip in the pool.

I could also stop them drinking and rolling in puddles...any puddles! I've kept 5 dogs over the years and not once had one that did this icky thing. If anything they all hated puddles.

Plus if we could control them we could get over the problems with some of the reported bugs with other issues like counters, not eating from full bowls and getting out of their little beds to fall over exhausted.

I agree it's probably too late to introduce it but it sure would be handy! 🐶

@simsplayer818 I agree!  While I've seen some dogs roll in poo, I've never once seen them roll in pee!  As for my dogs, they hate getting their paws wet! One of them will only go to the bathroom on the covered porch if it is raining! So she would never roll in a puddle of any kind, let alone urine!

@PugLove888 same with my dogs. It's like the excessive phone use for Sims, an annoying random idle action. They head straight for any water and swim in it, splash in it or drink it. It could definitely use some tuning!

@simsplayer818 , I don't mind the swimming so much, as some real-life dogs are obsessed with swimming, though that usually depends on the breed. 😊 Also, my favorite Sim that I ever made (the Pug in my avatar, named Nugget) randomly got assigned the obsession of loving to swim and it is so funny to see him swimming whenever he can in his little red hoodie, wo I wouldn't change that for anything! 🥰
