Practice Makes Perfect buffs too powerful

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.107
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? This isn't a BUG bug, just a strong recommendation, so the expansions don't really matter and I don't feel like listing them.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Make a Sim with the Practice Makes Perfect trait Do basically anything involved with raising skills for a while
What happens when the bug occurs? Constant +7 Focused from two buffs
What do you expect to see? +2, maybe?
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Whichever one added the Practice Makes Perfect trait

Okay, this isn't a BUG bug per se, but seriously, +7??!! And a +5 on a buff that lasts 24 hours?! I decided to try out the Practice Makes Perfect trait. After a few days of gameply, my Sim has the Momentum and Dedication buffs constantly, which wouldn't be so much of a problem if Momentum wasn't +2 Focused and Dedication wasn't +5. My Sim has lost the ability to realistically have any emotion besides Focused, because +7 is just too ridiculously high.

I am not a big Live Mode player, so recently I finally made a sim with the new Practice Makes Perfect trait. Took a several sims days to realized that the focused buff became a problem. My freelance artist sim need to be inspired to deliver his best works, but it kinda impossible to earn inspired buff since he had focused buff all the time. I ended cheat the game and replace Practice Makes Perfect trait from my sim.
I hope this trait get some adjustment. I can't see myself using this trait for any of my sims.

  • i use this trait in some occasions like when i want to get a skill faster but now that you mention it
yes it's definitely annoying it focussed on 1 emotion only (focussed)

and nothing can beat the focuss moodlet and the potions only work temporary

i'd like to get other moodlet then a focuss moodlet without removing the trait "practice makes perfect"

i now have to remove them to have other moodlet than the focussed one (the cheat cas.fulleditmode works)

If you have a Sim with the Practice Makes Perfect Trait, they constantly stay focused. I need my Sim to be Inspired but she can't due to the focus being like +7 every few minutes. I can't get any other moodlet.  It's super annoying.

So frustrating.  Child sim is unable to complete Rambunctious Scamp as he can not get playful.

  • Playing around with this myself for the first time and thought the permanently refreshing "Dedication" buff and "Momentum" were bugs. No, just experience the game working as intended. I even tried the CelebuSerum that gives a +100 to a specific mood, and it still didn't overwrite either moodlet. Sadly, neither does "surge emotion" if used. The only thing I've seen take over is the "uuurp!" and "cram for the exam" moodlets just before a university exam. I wouldn't be too annoyed if the moodlets correlated to different skills - energized or inspired for instance, which could encourage the player to focus on specific skills at a time - but all skills feed into the focused moodlets. :/ It's a fun trait, just wayyy too overpowering for the emotion system.

Also, not sure if this is a bug on my end, but the "Dedication" buff only applies to mental skills - or at least only has a description for them, and never updates for social or creative skills like the "Momentum" buff does. Most of what my sim is doing is creative, so I'm not sure why it's only contributing to handiness, logic, gardening, etc. I guess it makes sense for the logic and other skills, but the rest of them seems to hinder other skills. (She is a genius, so that might be it)

Edit: I used two inspiration potions - one rewards store potion and one celebuserum, both add +100 to the emotion - and it still doesn't override the "dedication" buff. It did take the happy buffs and applied them to the inspiration, but my sim is still permanently focused. Also, the momentum buff auto applies when I queue up an action that triggers it. I'd expect it to apply when they do the task, but momentum pops up even if they have three other tasks ahead of them.

Trying to have my Practice Makes Perfect Sim complete the Bodybuilder Aspiration. "Push the Limits for 1 Hour while Energized" is impossible. The focused moodlets dominate as soon as they start exercising, and even with the gym trainer mentoring and the Bracing Breezes and Sunny Aspect lot traits on, the Energized moodlets are completely overwhelmed.

Could you purchase the Moodlet Solver in Rewards to get rid of this and adjust the traits for this sim?

I do have a mod for this issue( it allows me to delete moodlets, and traits that clash.) and my athletic sims are always energized from working out and sometimes focused if they don't have a high skill in athletics. You shouldn't need a mod for this though. My athletic sims are getting too big especially the teens. No slider to control weight gain in the game it used to be there...
